graphic equaliser
this may be a silly question, but anyways. Rumaging through my brothers ute tonight, up under the dash i find a graphics equaliser. What exactly do they do?? The head unit has 6 rca's but the equaliser has only 2 imputs and 6 outputs. Its one that is specifically designed for the particular head unit, and the 2 in 6 out looks like its suposed to be hooked up to an amp, but the speakers are wired with rca plugs and there is no amp, which i find a little bit strange. So what does the graphic equaliser actually do? in this case it is just a metal box with no dials or screen or nothing (its operated through the head unit)

i see........ so if i put in some decent speakers (its got crappy 20w paper cones that have gotten wet) it should sound pretty nice. Its a shame the doors only have 5.5' speakers and there is literally no room anywhere else for anything else......6x9s preferably

also some Equalizers have a separate control for a sub. so that you control the frequency that the sub. immits and its volume level regardless of your speakers performance, actually if you turned the sub. control on the bass will be cut from the speakers as you don't need them under the current setuation.
also some Eq. got no internal amps so you plug RCA input and get RCA output... using amp(s) with such eq. is a must.
some others got internal amps and can be hooked directly to speakers, some other Eq. got both RCA and power outputs to select from.

on another note, im wanting to upgrade my amp soon. I want to replace my 360w alpine with a 900w lightning audio. So far i have not heard anything bad about lightning audio stuff (its rockfords cheaper stuff) but any opinions are welcome

i have fitted 6.5 in my front doors, quite easily.
i must admit, i first started out thinking 6x9s were the bollox, and that they were the only speakers i wanted in my car. but after installing some decent components, and amping them, there isnt a need for rear speakers, but im still going to have some, for when i park up, and put the music on at a cruise etc.
but im currently only running from speakers, and 2 12in subs, and it sounds amazing.
