Quick rim and tire question

Post by ChiPPy »

I'm right about to buy a set of Keystone 187 rims, and tires, but wanted to see if anyone thought these were not a good choice for the car. The setup will be Keystone 187's 17x7 inch with 40mm offset and 4x100 / 4x114 bolt pattern. The tires will be 205/40/17. The car in question is an Optra5 (Forenza/Reno/Lacetti.) Does anyone think there will be any issue with rub or clearance on stock suspension?

Only rub and clearance issue would be if you you lowered more than say two inches. The gang can correct me or confirm this.

The wheels look nice and once you get then on the car, show us some pics.

Should definately be fine. I don't know about the offset on the Optra, but if it's 49mm like Lanos, it'll be fine. I have 15's with 195/50/R15 and no rubbing with Eibach springs (offset 40mm).

Well, the offset on the Optra is 44mm, so 40mm should be ok as far as offset goes. Thanks for the replies so far.

Yup, 44 offset is correct.

You should be fine. Make sure to post, if its otherwise :)

Haven't seen him post in a while. He did have a problem with his offset on his Lanos though...

I have the same size wheels with a 1.2 inch drop and i have neverfr had a rubbing problem on the street even with the car loaded up. Although i have had alot of rubbing on the track during very very hard cornering but it hasnt messed up anything yet

btw the wheels look good!

Just off hand, does anyone know the weight of the stock steel rims on the optra?

Ok, I found a set that I liked, and these will be installed shortly. I went with Fastco F40 Virus rims, with 205/40/17 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires. These are the best bang for the buck from the reviews I have read. I will post picks after they're installed.
