How to get the OEM Fog Lights to turn on without headlights?

Post by daftmajin »

Many people have modified their foglights so they will engage with the parking lights instead of the headlights. Anyone done this to their Woo? The cars I have seen it done on all had different setups. What would be the best wat for our cars? If someone could post a guide on how to do this light mod, that would be awesome.

It shouldn't be too hard, no matter how you do it, and there would be many ways.

1. You could hard wire it to your parking lights, so that every time your parking lights are on your fogs are on. Only bad part is you have no control.

2. You could wire it to the parking lights via the switch, so you have control of the fog lights and don't have to have the headlights on for them to work.

3. You could hard wire them directly to a 12 Volt source. On all the time, bad idea.

4. (My Favorite Idea, What I did). Wire it to a 12 Volt source, fused, relayed, via a switch so that any time that the car is on, your fog lights can be on to be used as driving lights, regardless of light position. Your best bet, so you don't have to hack up the factory wiring too much, would be to go to Autozone, get a $12 fog light wiring kit, hook it up like the manual says, except instead of hooking up the hot wire to the lights hook it up to a constant alternator source and cut out their switch and integrate the wiring to the stock Daewoo switch. I assume you could use the factory wiring, but it would require a lot of cutting in tight spaces which means the possibility of short circuits. An all new fog light wiring harness would clean it up.

with my leganza you can have the fog lights on with only the parking lights on (if this has been mentioned its cause i cbf reading long posts). Only problem with that is that driving with fog lights on and no headlights makes you look like a loser
