17s on my car rub at the mo, all that needs doing is the rear arches rolling.
but with 18s, you have to have at least a 215 wide tyre...which i think would cause even more problems. i really think 17s are big enough, mine look good, and dont look silly. once its lowered, on 17s, its guna look great. 18s would be good, but your guna be paying for it, pot holes will destroy those tyres with a 35 profile.

ok.. so i have been redoing the back air bags on my car.. rolled the lip of the fender completely and measured my wheels... and tires and such to help me decided on what i should do about the wheels
why is this?? my 16" wheels measure to be 17" to the lip
i measured the diameter.. is that how wheels are measured?

I'm pretty sure its real. Other car enthusiast websites support and use the one the Miata guy made. heres another http://1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp
with http://1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp
205/40R16 vs. 215/30R18 - the 215/30/18 is .62 inches taller
with http://www.miata.net/cgi-bin/tirescgi
205/40R16 vs. 215/30R18 - the 215/30/18 is .6 inches taller
both are pretty accurate

it does work with a bunch of mod's.
this one has 18" rims: http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0QwD3AuwT ... 6266077144
he had to cut away the inside of the rear arches to get them to fit. otherwise they would just rub constantly.
so it does work, if your willing to cut out those pieces. (the pieces that keep the water out.)

decided against the 18"
here are the things i bought with the 400$ saved from the rims

excellent choice! 18" wheels just don't belong on sub-compact cars anyway.

thats a well nice orange lanos, bet is has problems keeping the engine cool.
18s....mmm i dont think its worth it, but it obviously can be done.
glad you stayed away from 18s with a 30 profile, my friend has 18s on his peugeot 306, and he gets punctures about once a week....they seriously are a a pain in the arse.

well, mine runs quite warm...and i can see it making a huge difference. i would probably get bonnet lifters, to aid cooling while driving, and possible a vent either side. but that does look so much better.
