Urgent! >Idiling<

Post by kroz123 »

Hey to all the Optra/ Forenza people.

I need info on idiling quick cuz my car is going to the dealer 2morow and I need this information.
My car is running fine but when I turn it off it doesn't even wanna start again sometimes. I was forced to put all the stock filter intake back so I'm running all stock again :(
The car sometimes makes allot of strange noise like a tikking sound in the engine, I can't discribed it.

Without insulting anyone but I think that this engine is a piece of shit
I have a brand new fuel pump that they change under warranty.

And this is my ?
When you start your cars at how much rpm does it show, I think mines a little low like 900 rpm.
Doesn't it supposed to be at 1000 rpm and when you turn the A/C on it is supposed to drop right???

Thanx in advance. :)

mine idles at 850 RPM and will rise up to some 1000 RPM with the A/C on... this is contolled by the ECU so the rise will happen even if your compressor is not spinning.

how many miles you got? what service did you do on your car? whats your driving style? if you got a problem with your car it shouldn't be a car problem if you know what i mean.

i driven my car for 37500 miles and kicked the living $hit out of it yet it is still running fine... more feedback on your problem will help up decide whats your problem.

My Reno idles just below 1000 but if I have everything on it tends to idle a little higher for a bit. I have about 13,000 miles on my car since january of this year. Climate here is warm and humid during the summer and about 52 degrees F and dry during the winters.

Wel thanx for the info guys I appreciated it very much.
My car idles just below 1000 rpm like 900 rpm and when I turn on the ac it raises a little than drops again to 900, I have only 15000 km on it.

The car has it's regular oil change at the dealer, I would change the oil my self but then I will loose my warranty it will expire on 22 april 2006 so I will have to wait.
As soon as it expires I will change to maybe Mobil or Quaker state.
The dealer uses Valvoline oil.

You can say that my driving style is just cruising and sometimes I will test the car on the highway but not every time maybe twice a week.

Mmamdouh doesn't your car sometimes want to just turn off cuz your idles is like way low.

CHNDROSE here in Aruba I think it's hotter . :)

nope mine idles just fine... when i feel it is a bit sluggish or so i just take off the spark plugs, Intake air controller and throttle body for cleanup and it does the trick every time.

i wouldn't recommend that you do so yourself or else you will void your warranty but if you wanna do it their is instructions on that at the "how to" section but it is for a 1.5/1.6 Lanos... yuou will have some differences on your engine but basicly it is the same job.

Ok MMamdouh thanx for the info but my ride idles a bit sluggish I can feel it. Do I need the do it like you do it?
And what do mean by Intake air controller?>> ( the whole stock intake)
Yes I know that I will void the warranty. But the warranty is crap, the GM dealer here only gives 2 years or 50.000km whatever comes first I think this sucks.
Ok man yes it is the same job when changing oil, Thanx

What do guys think about Valvoline Oil, is it any good?

No infact no, only the fuel pump was bad and the ABS light came on when I park the car in my garage cuz it's like a little hill (if you gys understand what I mean) but that got fixed and every time when I press the brake the lights flicker a bit but that could not be fixed, anyways I don't care about that it only visuable at night.

And when I start the car it idles a bit sluggish, but I'm gonna do exactly like Mmamdouh.

well... the cleanup i discribed always solves idling issues for me... i am not sure if it will fix your broblems but it won't hurt that's for sure.

the intake air controller is just a little motor that controll how much air goes to the intake while the car is at idling... if it is too dirty or sluggish it can cause idling problems.

Wel MMamdouh it is worth a try, I'm taking all the stock intake out for cleaning, if trottle body is dirty then I'll clean that too, for the sparkplug I'm thinking of changing them to NGK?

What do you guys think?

i had NGK on my car before and they are nice and i am currently running on Denso.

as for cleaning up: yes by all means clean whatever you find dirty but yuo don't have to take off the whole intake, just the throttle body..
