your probably going to need a die grinder with alot of stones or a good carbon bit

i have a bit that works wonders on metal, i just dont have an air compressor big enough to run my die grinder on to use the bit

I used a die grinder with a carbide bit. The exhaust manifold took quite a bit longer to do than the intake manifold because of it being cast iron. Just take your time and be patient and I'm sure it'll turn out fine. It's unbelievable how much extra material there is...

Are you guys grinding out the original headers, the cast iorn ones? How do you do that? Do the get weak from the grinding? Would a quick sand-down to smooth things out help??

Thanks Im new to this porting and polishing stuff,

I looked at mine and the port are just about matched I can probably take a mm all the way around the port. the big restriction is where the runner collect. the port on the cat is like 2.75" but the bottom of the manifold is like a 1.5" problem is you can't grind any out because the flange would fall off the manifold. Man these ex manifolds are really restrictive on the Aveo. I don't know about the Lanos. I think the Aveo would get huge gain up top with a header. I'll get some pics tommorow for you guys

This might be a stupid question, what do you mean ported out the exhaust manifold, what are the benefits? :?

I've scrapped this idea. if we can get those exhaust flanges made, I''m buying one, then I'm getting a cheap header on ebay for a b16 or b18 and cutting off the flange and putting the aveo one one.

when you look at your manifold, you will see casting slag (excess metal that seeped during the casting process). it is present on the inside and outside of the manifold. removal of any of it is a good thing...

weight, heat insulation, better flow, etc
