HELP: Leganza to Lanos auto shift handle swap

Post by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz »

I picked up a Leganza leather shift handle and it attaches on my Lanos and works perfectly apart from one thing: the plastic shaft cover tube on the Leganza shifter is shorter than that of the Lanos so there is a 12mm gap at the bottom of the shaft before it reaches the slide cover.

Does anyone know how to remove the plastic shaft cover?
I have tried pulling, prying and even sliding a thin flat piece of metal inside in case there was a release tab.

If I can not find how to swap the shaft tube cover, I will put a thin tube over the tube that is there so it looks like one longer piece.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

LOL ... That's it! duct tape fixes everything!

I'm actually thinking of adding a tube that is the right length and diameter as the tube that is there and then covering the whole thing with a leather sleeve with the edges swen together with the same pattern as the leather on the shifter. This would make it all look the same.

That plastic piece on the shifter just won't budge. I've tried everything I can think of to remove it, but it will only result in it being damaged if I try any more force than I already have.
