Nubira to Lanos Throttle Body
Unfortunately, contrary to what most of us were hoping...
THE NUBIRA/LEGANZA TB WILL NOT FIT THE LANOS TB
I got my hands on one to see if they are remotely similar, and while the TB's have a considerably larger diameter than the Lanos, they will not fit "bolt on replacement" style to the Lanos intake manifold. Main reasons are that the Lanos has 2 large bolt holes while the Nubira has 4 small ones, it also has extra vacuum hoses and the housing might in fact be larger than the intake manifold of the Lanos. I believe that the sensors would fit so those that might like to work with modifying it to fit the Lanos would probabally notice quite an increase in throttle response.
I just thought I'd pass the knowledge along before too many people got the wrong impression.

Bloody lord, Pictures please?
in all the conversions that i see i only see they're using 2 bolts...
there's a post somewhere that i posted a couple of pics.

Sorry, I have no pics because my sister took my digital camera up to Gainesville. I will try next time I go.
The Nubira TB has 4 1/8 inch holes in 4 corners whereas the Lanos has 2 1/4 inch holes in opposing corners. The Nubira TB also uses lugs (like wheels) and is held on by nuts while the Lanos TB is held on by 2 large bolts. Also, the Nubira TB has 3 vacuum hose ports because their intake manifold has none, the Lanos TB has no vacuum hoses. The actual base of the Nubira TB might actually be bigger than the Lanos manifold. I believe that the sensors in the TB might be interchangeable. Also, a major downfall of using this TB is that the walls of the TB are not totally straight, but more of a curve on one side right above the butterfly which looks like it might affect the flow and that the straight Lanos TB flows better even though it is smaller. Sry for the strange explanation.
I have seen the earlier posted pics of the Lanoses with big TB's and I got hopeful, but after comparing this TB to the ones on the pics, it is not the same thing. It is a good thing I didn't purchase the $40 TB off of Ebay.

i have many pics for the conversion and it seems their is no mods. for the mounting bolts whatsoever... my only worry is that the hole on the intake is smaller than the one on the TB so you still have ristriction and to get the most out of the mod you have to bore the intake as well.
i will look for the post where i posted the pics and get the link for you all.

Those are Nubira TBs, but I believe that the bolt holes have to be modified as the ones I saw have smaller bolt holes than the Lanos. Also, I believe that the throttle cable would have to be extended.
Strange... Gm-car-parts.com lists the Nubira and Leganza have different TBs, but the two cars I was looking at had the same (or very similar) ones. I know for sure that one car was a Nubira and the other a Leganza. Maybe someone had a Nubira 2.2 swap?
Damn, I'm gonna have to go back down and clear up my error.

IDK if they changed the engines at all from 1999-2002. I took this from a Nubira II (I checked, definately Nubira) and it had the same (or very similar) TB as a Leganza and I was sure that without at least drilling out the holes and extending the throttle cable it wouldn't fit a Lanos. I guess it is "modifiable" but then again so is every TB out there.
Next time I get the chance I will purchase the TB and make 100% sure it can't fit as a bolt-on. As of now, I'm about 95% sure.

i was cleaning my TB and intake yesterday and i compared the TB port to the port on the intake and i found out they are almost the same diameter.
that leads us to the fact that a TB swap from the 2.0 engine to the 1.5 won't be that effectice unless you rebore the intake, i don't know about the 1.6 intake but from the pics i have it seems that it will be the same case as the 1.5.
just wanted to add my feddback to the subject.

I know, I have mentioned this before, but if you were to find a larger diameter TB and replace the normal one without port matching the intake manifold, the result wouldn't be all that much horsepower, but you would get much better throttle response due to the drop in restriction. Although not a huge deal with manual cars, better throttle response would help out in automatic cars, which wait to drop shift until the RPM gets to a certain point.
Basically, you car would be a lot quicker to accept the gas pedal which helps in merging or passing.
