Need help
Remember my post about the exhaust popping? well the problems back.. my guess is the seals went to shit from having the breather hose blocked for whatever long. Im taking it to a machanic cuz its free (dads business) . But though id post here to see if maybe theres something im missing... ive checked everything. Not the plugs or wire or exhaust.. dont know what it is.
I have a race this weekend so i need it fixed soon. If it is the seals how long would it take for a mechanic fix it? i work tonight and tomorrow then i have a week off so i cant afford to miss work
thanks guys

Is it popping when you let out on the throttle? I don't know where the last post is or I'd go there.
Also (has nothing to do w/ the exhaust) where you auto-x down here? Depending on what I buy for a vehicle I wanna check it out sometime.

It pops when you drive... and you get jolted forward from lost of power. It also pops when you hold the rpms at anything below 2k but i think thats just b/c of the size of the exhaust
i autocross w/ SCCA. Its usually at PIR but this summer its gonna be farthur. http://www.azsolo2.com/forums/ Thats the forum to the autocross... dont know when the next one is

is it just me or you are discribing an engine missfire\sputter??
if that is the case then the exhaust is acting normally in response to the engine sputter... also what seals make the car sputter or the exhaust pop... none that i know of.
if the blocked breather messed up any seals then you will be leaking oil or at least have viewable oil vapor or oil condensation somewhere... again that won't cause a missfire or exhaust pop.
don't look at the symptoms... look at the cause.

No CEL... althoguh last time this was going on the CEL was blinking for maybe 5 mins and i could barley keep the car at 70mph.
It sounds like the exhaust is sputtering.. not really the engine. All the sounds come from the exhaust... I dont really know how else to explain it. It just sounds like the exhaust is choking or something.
Its going to the mechanic in the morning

Mine does! The main cat is obviously burnt up! Smells like rotten eggs. I'll be replacing it with a mirror finish high flow cat from Magnaflow someday!

yeah... mine stinks like crazy
ya know... once i do my twin trubo thing, i'm gonna use a mega-squirt instead of the stock ecu.... so that i can run straight pipes all the way to the back of the car and use a flame thrower or a mis-firing system without any freakin cel's going on
mwuhahahahahahahahaha

the exhaust makes sounds due to the gases comming from the engine, if the engine misfires then the exhaust sound will be affected... unless of corse you got a hole in the exhaust but that is easy to detect.kinkyllama wrote: It sounds like the exhaust is sputtering.. not really the engine. No hole in the exhaust.
What would cause it to misfire?

mostly ignition problems, bad wires or spark plugs, when the no 2 wire was leaking electric power the car missfired till the point you can here a bang when accelerating... i thought some one hit me from the back but it was a misfire.
also bad mixture (i think too lean) can cause this or if you have too much carbon deposits in the combustion chamber.
didn't you say that you have old spark plug wires?? one or more could be leaking electricity... pop the hood at night with the engine running and watch the wires, try to locate a jumping spark somewhere.
don't use your hand during this or you will electricuted.
