Hissing sound

Post by grissom1974 »

I have a 2000 Leganza and noticed that there is a rather loud hissing sound coming from under the rear of the car when it is running. It does not do it when the engine is switched off and the key in in the on position (not accessory). Is this a normal sound that I have never noticed?

I don't know if it is related, but the car died on my daughter last week while she was driving around 45 mph. Had over a quarter of a tank of fuel. She said it took a couple of minutes before it would re-start. I drove it the following day and had no problems.

Thanks,

Rick

I suggest getting your gas cap tested. The fuel system is pressurized so if the gas cap is leaking it could cause a hissing sound.

My Leganza has made a noticable hissing sound from under the car since I bought it new.

I never looked to find out what it is.

Mine did the same noise yesterday and today I had the car towed on warranty and for a bad fuel pump too the fuel pump was changed and the running pretty good
The car just died when I was going 50km/h.

I was very dissapointed that it was the fuel pump cuz it's a new car only has 15.000km

To me is the fuel pump going bad.

Mine does the same hissing sound when the ignition is on, but I was said that it was the fuel pump sending pressure to the injectors.
