If you don't wrap it correctly, i.e. more than a .25 inch overlap, it has the possibility to overheat and warp and possibly ruin the header. I remember reading somewhere that a guy was in a race for an hour and when he finished and popped his hood, his headers were red hot and broken at the welds and the only thing holding them together was the header wrap. However, despite the danger, if wrapped correctly, they can look decent and work, just be careful.

A maybe better option would be to get custom headers ($300 maybe) and get them coated with ceramic coating called (I think) Jet Hot. It won't bust your header and has actually better insulating properties.
Now that you mention it I think I've heard of it too, 'cept I saw it on some car show prolly.

Well, i use heat wrap on my headers (4/2/1 ) for about 2 year and they crack in a place, but that was because they were handmade and in that place they needed to be reinforced. It was about 18 months ago.

I love the look of that header, is that polished and then ceramic coated or just ceramic coated silver?

That header would be great if someone was going turbo, take off the first Catalytic Converter and replace it with a bracket for a turbo and you have a perfect combination of SHOW and GO.

That's a stock header isn't it? So I guess you could use a stock header with an adapter to go turbo...

Yes, as far as I know it is a stock header. You can just get an adapter for a turbo on a stock manifold, the only thing holding you back is space, thats why I suggested geting rid of the cat.

Yes that is a stock manifold with 'chrome' colored powdercoat. I think the next time I do one I'll smooth out the manifold a bit more. The cast finish on it doesn't do the look of the ceramic coat any justice.

I had thought about using the stock manifold for a turbo set up but I don't wanna remove the AC compressor or do a remote oil filter. Another issue is the location of the turbo. The oil return might not be very good.

I have other plans but they're on hold for now.
