My car I'm building will have a C20GET in it, but I can pick up the 1.6L (74hp) SOHC from a Pontiac LeMans CHEAP, like they want to give them away. I know that the transmission side of the equation will work. Yes, I know it will be like a 3cyl Geo Metro with 4 Linebackers in it SLOW, but i'm just looking to get the car rolling.
My question, Is the 1.6L block and the 2.0L block the same size physically and the differences are the finished bores? 3.11" vs the 3.39"? Or is the block also shorter timing cover to transbellhousing?
If was hoping to be able to swap the 1.6L in and take the car up to the shop to get the sunroof and headliner fixed and get all the other little issues taken care of.
I can then pull it and swap in my complete 2.0L turbo engine, and put the 1.6L back into use in my other car.
I was hoping since you all use the same blocks as the two engines I'm talking about you could answer the question without me having to purchase one and get it in there and go.

Oh, the car is a GM N-body Grand Am, and I have 2 of them that came stock with the C20GET engines. One is an automatic (my first project), and the other is a 5sp.
I have a harness out of an '88 Sunbird with the 1227748 ECM, which will work with the TBI/Distributor 1.6L, 1.8L, 2.0L
