Need help with rim size
Im going to buy a seperate set of wheels/tires for race purposes.. it will be cheaper and i got a deal from konig, any 15inch for 55 and any 17 inch for 75.
Anyways.. im not sure which will be better. By the time i get them ill have strut bars so my suspension will be beafed up a little more. I think if i go with RACE tires (not sure if im gonna go with street or race tires cuz of classing issues) i wanna go with 15inch wheels cuz the sidewall will be pretty sturdy. I think either way the better bet is 15inch.
Any input would be great.
Im also gonna be buying a 2nd set for daily driving and selling the wheels i currently have... cuz if i sell the wheels i have now for half the price i bought them for i can almost buy 2 sets of wheels with my discount.

Rims
If you are thinking about racing, you have to have smaller tires, that is unless you have too much horsepower. I had some 17's on my Lanos and I ended up selling those and getting some 16's which are about the same diameter as the original tires. I did all my engine upgrades with the 17's and when I switched I could feel an increase in performance. The 17's may look cool but because they affect performance, they really aren't.
Smaller Tires ++++:
1) Brakes will last longer
2) The cars center of gravity will be a bit lower
3) Easier on your engine

Re: Rims
the bigger sidewall of the 15's will aid in traction but will flex more during corners. Formula 1 cars have such high profile tyres on their 12's because they have virtually no suspensio, so you may be able to stiffen your suspension up mor with the 15's

go with 15" rims and 195/50/15 tires.

if you used the same rim\tire as the leganza got (205/60/15 i suppose) then those tires will be bigger than the stock ones and will make you lose acceleration... but you will gain on top speed, i guess on autocross you need acceleration more than top spess.

so the higher profile tires will have more wobble and cause understeer during turns... better stick with low profile ties.

well... i don't think kinky got loads of torque that low profile tires will cause him problems... i guess if he managed to hold a correct line during the turn and then slam the gas on the straight he will be OK.
i also don't recommend too low profile tires as they are too much on a kinife edge but still they will help on cornering... so my recommendation is to got with low profile but not "too much" low on the profile.

My forenzas pretty light... ive taken alot out of it. Also the wheels im looking at are 15lbs.
But if i got with 15s it'll probably be 215/50/15 (maybe 225) if i got with 17s it'll be at least 215 (possibly alot higher)/40/17
Keep in mind race tires have extra thick sidewalls so they dont flex as much. I think im going to put my stock wheels on and go in a parking lot and see how they react.
If the profile of the tires are too low it actually hurts turning ability if the suspension isnt stiff enough.
