What Daewoo badge is this??

Post by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz »

Once again, surfing around Google, I found this:

It is from this page:
http://www.autocentre.ua/article/7286.html

Instead of Daewoo, it says "ZAZ".

Notice the grille comes with mesh from the factory. I have not seen any grilles like that in the US.

From the looks of it, Ukraine got a license to build Lanos, using 'ZAZ' as the name of the manufacturer. My russian is really bad, but this is what I made out of it.

So, does this mean we have new parts suppliers in Ukraine as well? LOL

This is the 1.6 engine, but the plastic valve cover top has different writing on it.

that's the new version of the valve cover.

I think in thailand there's also a company that has the license to build Daewoo cars under another name, wich are modified as 'luxury versions' the magnus is one of the choosen base models.

a long time ago, you can buy this car in east germany. it was called zaporoshets. with a 1,2 V4 (90?) 43HP and the engine was placed in front of the rear axis...so a middel-motor-concept. the power goes to the back wheels. maximum speed was 123 km/h  .

i don't know about the emblem on the first pic... first time to see it.

as for the grill: that is the OEM grill we have here for the Lanos II (AKA sport) and i am thinking of getting one for myself... the mesh is plastic though but still its cool.
Image

as for the ZAZ: finally someone was able to explain the connection between ZAZ and daewoo... i found few cars arround here that got Daewoo ZAZ on them and they looked really ugly and i never knew what the hell they are... now i know what are they.

Ok, what they're doing is they're releasing the car under the manufacturer ZAZ and not Daewoo. They have added a few features like the grill, put their own logos, and added a tilt wheel function. The date on the article is old (november 2004), so I don't know if it went through ok. But even if it did... there are no parts available from them... :(

LOL, I remember this car from Russia. It was sooo slow that it would never reach 100km/h even. They are super loud as well...

I really like the look of that little Zaz. No joke. I like it. :) It looks a little like an old Volkswagon Notchback, which I REALLY love!! :)
