Just made an appointment...

To get the windows on my Lanos done with silver mirror tint! :)
This Saturday @ 10:00AM I drop the car off and they said it will take 1 1/5 to 2 hours to complete. I will walk around in the mall across the street and get some lunch while they have the car.

I'll post pics as soon as I get the car back.

$120 with a life time warranty against bubbling or peeling.

Some places are less expensive, but I trust this shop; they have been in business almosts 20 years.

Here in Virginia, I can have all the windows tinted except the windshield.
The windshield can have a 6" strip along the top of the glass.

If it is dark tint, they allow 35% light pass on the back and back side windows. The driver & passanger door windows can have 50%.

I am not sure what the mirror tint is for the amount of transparency, but I have seen it on a lot of cars here and it looks good.

OK i am more inclined to have a black tint if i had your car but lets see what will that end up to be... i am guessing your car will be like a silver lump with 4 wheels.

Ok ... 9:40, I dropped the car off to have it tinted for the 10:00 appointment.

We had time to kill, so we went to the zoo and got some lunch.

At 12:30, we went back to get my car and ....

They tinted it with dark tint and not silver mirror tint!!!!!! :x :?

The guy who does the tinting said he didn't remember that I wanted silver, which from the look on his face, he did but would not admit it.
He said that somewhere along the line between the main office where I called to make the appointment and him getting the work order, it got dropped that I wanted silver tint.

So now, I take the car back at 4:00PM this coming Wed to have the dark tint taken off and the new tint installed.

It may be the wrong tint, but it is a VERY good installation job.
No bubbles, no creases, no lines ... it looks great ... but it is still the wrong color.

And of course, there is no charge to have the correct tint installed.

I will post pics of the car with the dark tint tomorrow after I go back home and get my camera (I forgot to bring it with me!).

ok its your car and you do what you see best but i still see that the dark tint would lookk better... but that's just me.

anyways i would really like to see the car pics with the wrong tint... i am sure it will look cool as hell.

in australia mirror tint is illegal, but people still do it. In my opinion limosine tint looks best.

Where I live, you can have 50% on the driver & passanger door and 35% on all the other windows other than the windshield.

The mirror tint that is legal here is not completely mirrored.
It is more like a shiny silver tint that you can still see through.

That is also 50% on the doors and 35% on the back windows & rear windows, but shiney.
I think they call it titanium flash or something like that.

My friend was joking with me about the mirror tint saying that the shop will get it wrong again and will install it backwards so I can not see out of the car, but everyone else can see me. hahaha

LOL ... I could see my balding head from every angle!!! :P

Anyway ... my dad likes the tinted windows so much, he is going to take his Lanos in to have the regular dark tint put on his car.

Now he wants a chrome exhaust tip! heh .. I've changed his tail lights for him and installed a cone air filter. I wonder what else he will want to do to his Lanos?? hahaha ... It's funny to see a 70 yr old man with a Lanos that has stuff done to it. All of the old people I see driving Daewoos have them completely stock.

I took 2 pics of the car with the dark windows and will post them tomorrow. It is bed time now and I can't be bothered to walk back out to the car to get my camera! LOL
