Lanos strut bar question

Post by blackielaw »

Wanted to ask whether a strutbar for a 1.6 Lanos would also fit a 1.4 Lanos. Haven't found a specific one for the 1.4 so thought I could find a compatible one. There were also posts about a possible match with the Accent but they gave no definite answer... so yes I do read previous posts! Any ideas pls?

i suspect it would since its the same engine bay. now i'm not sure if your front suspension is the same. i'm guessing it would be but the only thing i can think that would be a problem might be the clearance of engine parts like the intake manifold or something.

I got KONI shocks and OMP springs installed so that might be an issue

I don't think there will be any problem, shocks and springs won't affect the strutbar at all. And if anything, you will have extra clearance because your engine is .2L smaller.

i wasn't sure if the bolt pattern would be the same on the top of the struts thats why i didn't wanna say yes for sure.

i think all the different Lanos versions came with the same chassis... i mean the 1.4, 1.5 and 1.6 all share the same chassis and suspension so a 1.6 strut bar will fit any other lanos with a different engine.

i also heard that a rear strut bar can be installed on a hatch or a sedan with no modifications... not really sure but seems very logical as both cars share the same suspension.

About the bolt patterns of the strut mount, lanos2001 is correct, some models (like mine) do have a different bolt pattern. For example: There are four strut mount holes, the strut bar fits those with the 3 bolts closest to the side of the car. Mine has the bolts towards the cabin of the car. It isn't too big of a deal to get a drill and redrill one small hole. So yes, the bar will fit.

Pics will follow if my explanation was confusing.
