Insulating

What should i block from heat by insulating under my hood?

I have insulated my fuel line, air intake hoses and filters.

Any other Ideas on what i should protect next? Ive been useing a/c wrap and pipe insulation.

I bet it looks like its ready to blast off into space lol with all the aluminium foil coloured bits hanging everywhere..

Why are you insulating your engine?

Does that stuff catch fire at all?

Lol the only thing id insulate is the air intake..

Foil?

There is insulating fabric material that you purchase in rolls that are used to wrap around everything.

Alex - have you wrapped your exhaust manifold with insulation yet? That is supposed to help with HP and also keep the enging bay temp cooler.

AGREED, check out a company called DEI, they make alot of insulating products.

Cool, thanks guys. Any ideas on where i can buy that stuff locally (stores that might carry it)? I've meen wanting to wrap my exhaust manifold/ stock headers. And i used that foam insulation stuff for my fuel line and a special duct insulation for my intake.

I happened to see exhaust manifold wrap at Advance Auto Parts yesterday. It was 2" wide on a pretty long roll, but dont remember how many feet it was.
I think it was like $39 or $49 per roll.

When wrapping your exhaust manifold, be really careful and follow instructions carefully, if you happen to "over-wrap" your manifold it has the possibility to get too hot, perhaps red hot, and fall apart over time. It is always a good idea to remove it before wrapping to get it as accurate as possible.

While you're at it, maybe adding Redline WaterWetter might help cool things down, as well as those hood spacers which allow for cooler temps under the hood.
