F/S: 2000 Leganza

Post by jfarthing »

Here's the scoop:
2000 Daewoo Leganza (No badges as far as model so I'm guessing SE)
Black exterior with some minor chips/scratches
Black tinted windows (35% i think)
5-speed manual transmission (shifts great, but stick wobbles, probably needs new linkage)
79,000 original miles (engine & trans)
Rebuilt head after timing belt broke and bent valves

The bad part:
As of three days ago, the car broke down without any warning. I pulled back the timing cover and the belt was loose (once again!) The next day, I tore into it to discover that the timing tensioner had actually broken off of it's mounting surface (which is the block I think). A piece of the casting is bolted to the "removed" tensioner pulley. Now, if I'm right, that it's part of the block, it will need a new engine (I wouldn't trust welding for that crucial system) and if I'm wrong, maybe you can replace whatever the tensioner pulley mounts to and have a great car. Either way, make your best REALISTIC offer. The KBB value is still at $2,500. The car is located in Daytona Beach, FL. If you want any additional info or pictures, email me at jfarthing@cfl.rr.com

P.S. If nobody wants to buy, I'll be interested in a nice block for a 1999-2001 Leganza, don't care about the head, mine should be ok, unless this problem bent the valves again.

most probably you bent your valves... a failing tensioner will do the same damage as a broken timing belt.

Post a pic of what broke, It might just be the tensioner itself.
I had a brand new tensioner break on me as I was installing it before. :(

no because it happened while I was installing it. It never actually was on the motor while it was running. Damn thing, but www.gm-car-parts.com rushed me out a new one right away and we got er going.

Nah, in the states I would call it a business trip in order to deduct some of the costs. :D

Don't you know? Canadians cook in FL from the high temperatures! LOL
Remember ... the simple (sort of near accurate) C to F conversion is double it and add 30.
0C ( 0x2=0 +30) = around 30F
This also applies with beer.
A 6 pack of beer in the US is the equivalent in Canada as:
6x2=12 +30 = 42
So ... if $6US will buy a 6 pack of beer in the US, then we know that when crossing into Canada, $6US will buy around 42 Canadian beers.

LOL   :P
