tips on buying a used car

I found a 2003 350z track version for 9k with only 11k miles on it. New it cost about 35k without any extra options. Its been in no accidents and is very clean.

Is the resale value on this car really low or something? What could cause the price to be so low? I definitly wanna buy the car but the price being so low kind of worrys me.

I emailed the seller to see if it was a typo

Use that VIN service to check if a car has been wrecked or is a theft recovery. I can't think of the name of the service right now, but it is not expensive and well worth it if you find out something bad about a car before you end up buying it.

If you found it online, a comman "scam", well not really a scam buy a tricky tactic, is to lower the price on the listing and when you call they are like "Oh, you saw $9,000, it must be a typo because I'm selling it for $29, 000, still interested?." By sheer volume of callers wanting the low price, one or two might want to pay the full price.

It might be this because my friend is in the market for an Eclipse and the two he called had stories similar to this.

Well got an email back... he's in another country. The ad said he was in CA thats another reason i jumped all over it. Anyways, the email he sent me:

"The car is as good as new so you don't have to worry. Here are the most important details about the car :

- odometer in Miles , speedometer in Miles per Hour ( MPH )

sent him an email back asking for more details about the insurences and what not and just asking him questions trying to catch him in his BS.

This is most likly a scam but its worth a try

if he asks you to use western union then its a scam because they cant track the money that way

Its a scam... and hes doing a better job than just syaing use wester union.. cuz everyone knows that one.

If i felt it was legit and talked to the guy alot on the phone, id fly to the UK to test drive the car... especialy for the price.

sounds like all those frauds on ebay that track the user names when you bid and then send you a randomly generated email of the same product for your bid, be weary!
