Thermostat housing broke

does anyone know where I can get a metal one of these at?

for a quick fix get some gasket maker and drill like 8 holes around the part that broke put the gasket maker around the the edge part and put 8 screws in the holes.. let it dry and put it on.. work fine until you get a new one..

i drove like 3 weeks like this

Hey guys,

I went to a Daewoo service location today, they ran my VIN and as I thought they told me that I have a 60mo/60,000mi powertrain warranty. But, they also told me after doing a search, that the thermostat housing isn't covered by the warranty.... is that bullcrap or what???

I don't think cooling systems are covered in Powertrain Warranties, only engines and transmissions, and even then those warranties are rarely honored.

You may have to double check, but I'm sure you can find info in the warranties book that came along with the owner's manual.

Ok, got the part today and installed it. It was pretty easy... other than trying to screw the bottom bolt all the way in. Took about 30 mins.

I'm soooo happy, now I can drive my Daewooooo around again

now is there any type of warning signs that the housing is going out before it does? i doubt it but if there is i'll be looking out for it.

Look out for the smoke coming from your hood lol. But I don't think there's a way to actually see if it'll go before it does. When it does break, it breakes right where it is put together (there's a line going through it)...

Maybe replace it every 50 miles??

get a metal one... i saw pics for it on some europian Woos... not sure if that part is still protill now or even where to get it.

i've seen them before but they're on like the 1999 and before lanos and i think was only on the ones not in the US.

i don't think saw... i heard on daewootech yahoo group that they came OEM on the older europian 1.6, not sure if they are available anymore.

1998 and a few 1999 US spec Daewoo Lanos models had the metal one. I've seen a few in the US.
