Practically brand new Forenza engine

Post by PrecisionBoost »

Well.... it's official... I have yet another engine. :D

Tom let me know about an Ebay listing for a 2004 Suzuki Forenza engine..... with only 9000 miles on it!!!

Needless to say the guy didn't realize it would fit other cars... so I got it for $295 USD complete with absolutely everything.... including wiring, ECU, mounts, accessories. :shock: :shock: :shock:

It was shipped out monday and I'm heading down to Montana to visit WooHoo and pick up the engine on Friday.

I know.... I'm an engine hording bastard.... but at least all you Optra owners will get to see what happens when I throw a Forenza ECU onto my Optra engine (since the Forenza makes 7hp more than my Optra :cry: )

I'm thinking that I should build this new engine up as a "stage III" project and run about 20psi :twisted: :twisted:

You nutter,

the Stage III will be the one using the .4 crank?

No.... I still have my 2.2L (eventually it will be a 2.4L or 2.5L )... that's the "crazy horsepower" engine.... which will find it's way into a "drag only" vehicle (hopefully a Lanos).... goal is still 650whp to 700whp....goals may change when I go broke or my wife divorces me :lol:

Basicly here is what I consider to be the three stages of engine build up...

Stage1 --> Totally stock internals, minor upgrades, Intercooled T3 turbo running 7psi

Stage2 --> Turbo pistons, MLS gasket, ARP connecting rod bolts and cylinder head studs, Intercooled T3 turbo running 15psi

Stage3 --> Turbo Pistons,MLS Gasket, Forged rods, ARP bolts/Studs, Intercooled GT28RS turbo with T3 flange....numerous other upgrades.

Crazy HP engine --> Stroke 2.2L to 2.4L custom crankshaft, custom pistons, custom rods, cylinders bored out to waterjacket, integrated ductile steel sleeves, hardblok installed in lower water jacket, Deck height raised 1", modified cylinder head (porting,polishing,grinding,build up, replace valvetrain), large turbo (model and size yet to be determined) running about 42psi
