I have paint that holds up to 1200degree.... is this okay for the heatshield or do i need something that withstands more heat?

not really sure man
i think iron gets red hot at some 500C and we never have red hot exhaust manifolds on our Woos so i guess it is OK.
guys correct me if i am wrong.

Yes the manifold will get that hot and sometimes hotter.asam wrote:Your manifold should never get anywhere near 1200 degrees. I think the highest it will getis 220 degrees F.
I tried to paint my heat sheild with some of that 1200F degree heat paint but it didn't last long at all.
Ceramic coating or high temp powdercoating is definately the way to go here.

Although the aluminium sheeting transfers heat, it does block around 70% of the heat from the engine bay, i also used a piece of cloth to slow the transfer rate down, works a charm and the pod filter is much cooler with the shield up.
