exhaust out the side?

Post by kinkyllama »

Well im going to be redoing my exhaust system sometime in the near future. Someones teaching my how to weld soon so ill do it when i learn to weld. I wanna go wtih 2.5inch piping but i really like my muffler and its only 2.25... i donno guess im getting a new one.

But i was thinking of braking the exhaust out before the rear wheels. The reason because it bends alot over the rear axle and you cant really fix that much. Plus out the side will be a little more unique. But i dont want it took look bad, what do you guys think? would it look good? bad? okay?

Also, can you make your exhaust system not restrictive enough and lose power?

Here is a picture of the passenger side of my car to give you a visual... the exhaust would come out on the drivers side.

Picture of the muffler.. probably not the one i would use though.

Anyways any input would be great... or suggestions.

I'm not sure if this is realistic though since there isnt much room for the muffler to come out.. it would have to be directly under the chassis and the side panels which would make it very close to the ground... sometime soon im going to have to take measurements

You'll end up scraping the tail pipe constantly and possibly denting it in and making the exhaust flow worse.

I wouldnt want an exhaust like that... just have it go where it normaly go then a slight bend and have the muffler come out kinda angled. It wouldnd be that noticable

Then you should get a muffler with a tinny tip 2.5" the most (possibly dual tips), so it doesn't look ricey.

No way, it looks like 3.5" at least. Look at mine, it's only 3.5". We're talking about the outlet (tip) size, correct?

oh your right.. i thought it was 2.5 for some reason.

What i want to do is put the muffler under the car.. have a pipe come from the outlet of the muffler and out the side of the car just infront of the rear driver side tire.... and when i get a mild body kit (which dunno if ill do anytime soon) cut alitte hole the fit and have the end of the exhaust pipe even with the side skirt

Just do an exhaust cut-out.
