guy's i went today to changed the timing belt and reseting the ECM but i payed anout 80 us$ for the timing belt and two pulley's that support the belt ..(twin cam) ....and the mechanic took 20$ so i payed totaly 100$ is it okay or too much

well... thats about 3 times what i paid for the timing belt job on a 1.5 SOHC.

If you only paid $100 USD to have your timing belt changed consider yourself lucky.

Last one I had changed out ran about $230 USD and that was on the low end of the quotes. Had one as high as $700.

i was quated from the chevy dealer that it would take all day and would run about 500-700 USD.. i told them they are retarded and that i would do it myself for 1/5 the price and they said its not possible for me to do it myself.. looks like i did it myself

i hate dealerships!!

In the US $500 is about right. I have no clue for Jordan though.

Forget Dealerships a.k.a. Stealerships.

The Daewoo Service Center, while an OK shop, beat me for about $7000 total in all my years going to them. What a joke, most of the things they did I could do myself for a lot less.

Brake labor alone cost me $350 dollars, I could do it myself in 1.5 hrs for the price of the parts.

I paid $197 to have the timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump & seal, pulley tensioner and fuel filter changed and I didn't feel like they ripped me off.
The parts cost $391.

$20 to change the timing belt?? Are you sure they changed it and didn't just put the car in the bay for a couple hours and use the $20 to buy some beer?

the dealership here will charge some 600 LE for labor only ($100) and i paid 1/3 of that cost to my mechanic.

the good thing is my mechanic is working at the dealership and he is the guy doing the timing belt jobs their so practically i got the same service with a 66.6% discount.

The guy down at the GM dealership by my house quoted me out $650-$800 for a timing belt change on my 2000 Lanos. Talked to someone at an independant garage, he quoted me ~$400-$450 for the whole job.

You need to start calling around.
Also, start asking people you know about where they get good service for a good price.

If you buy the parts and bring them to the garage, the price will be a LOT less.
Quite often, they are quoting you a price including the timing belt. Those garages that do not often deal with Daewoo parts will usually not have access to good prices on parts.

Buy the timing belt from gm-car-parts.com or from Tim @ 360Dynamics.ca and you'll see how much less the price from there is VS. the price from your local garage.
Gm-car-parts.com has the timing belt for $59.95 + shipping.
