i got A lanos se 1999 that traveled 104000 KM's ... the engine starts vibrating between 2000 to 3500 ... a mechanic told me that i have to change the wire of the spark pluge i did and changed the air filtur too ... and the vibration is stell there he told me know i should change the fuel filtur and the O2 sensor so what do u think give me ur opinion plz the engine is 1.6L sohc and sorry for the spelling
sounds like your mechanic have no idea about what he is doing.
first we need some more feedback from you:
1- do you have a CEL?
2- how old are your fuel filter?
3- how old are your spark plugs?
4- how old is your timing belt?
5- when was the last time you cleaned out your intake?
6- ever cleaned up your injectors?
7- does the vibration occure while the car is in neutral or does it have to be in gear?
8- does the engine overheat or lose power?
9- any other engine complaint other than the engine vibration?
and last but not least ot to a real mechanic.

Re: thanx alot
cel is a check engine light. What MMamdouh was asking is if your check engine light was on or not.lanos rider wrote:thanx man ..

1- As Shaun explained... the CEL is that orange engine light that is on your dash... do you have this light on while you are driving??
2- replace it... it might have nothing to do with the vibration but the manual says to change it every 40,000 Kms, it is way too old and will cause future problems.
3- over and done with.
4- replace it... it is getting old and might snap and if it did you will bend your valves and will cost alot to repair.
also it might have lost some teeth and messed up your timing, does the car idle smoothly?
5- might need cleaning but that is not important right now.
6- over and done with
7- it is totally engine related... got nothing to do with gerbox, CV's or suspension.
8 & 9 - you have a vibrating engine that loses power... so when you reach those 2000 ~ 3500 rpm it vibrates AND lose power... more like power is going into the vibration rather than to the wheels... right?
from the feedback you gave i only suspect a timing belt... but still the car idles fine and seems to be doing OK so at lleast check it for wear and better replace it to avoid future trouble.
also what Shaun said about the engine or tranny mount could be logical too so check all engine and transmission mounts for wear, this will help on the vibration issue.
aside of that... replace your fuel filter and clean up your Throttle Body and Idling Air Controller (check the How to section) this will help in the lost power issue.
keep us informed with the developments on this subject
