IS the Lemans 1.6 same?

Post by Brian5475E »

Is the Lemans 1.6l engine the same as the Aveo/Optra or even the daewoo version. If so I think I found a ton of parts

Aveo that moves! Now I need those cams!

it looks too different... the intake and exhaust manifolds are on the opposit sides of the engine so i think their will be other differences as well.

don't take my opinion for granted though... its only based on the pic i saw on the site, i don't really know the specs of the Lemans engine but on first check it seems too different.

They aren't exactly the same but they are cousins.

The 1.6L Lemans was an 8V so nothing on the top end is compatible with the Daewoo/Aveo engines.

I've known about mantapart for a long time.... they have lots of parts for the 2.0L 8V C20GET.

The old Lemans 1.6L shares the lower block so the only things that might be transferable are the pistons and connecting rods.

Having said that they are designed for the 8V so significant machining would be needed to make sure that none of the 4 valves in each cylinder come close to slaping the piston.

If your after pistons I'm sure 360 Dynamics can source out some 16V pistons specifically made for the Daewoo engines ( I don't imagine they would be cheap....as most european parts tend to be expensive )

There are no pictures of the Lemans 1.6L on the Mantapart site.... you must have been looking at the american ECOTEC.

The Lemans engine has exhaust and intake on the same side as the Aveo and Lanos.

If you want a picture I'm sure Tom can go outside and snap one for you since he has this exact engine in his winter beater Lemans.

Part are readily available for the 1.6L but they are very expensive for some reason.... I'm sure that once Tom starts concentrating on the 1.6L DOHC engine he will start finding some decent prices. ( just like he's doing now with the 2.0L .... with my help )
