intake broken at throttle body
... so the throtle (sp) body is sucking air right from it.. with no filters or anything.
I wounder how long its been like this... i looked at the air filter and it look brand new like its never sucked air through it before (well very little) and it hasnt been changed in at least 15k miles but probably more.
Its amazing my engine still runs... ive been through rain and all... im pissed off. The dealer replaced the clutch assembly a couple months ago and didnt find it...
The anti-freaze is black... blahh!
i feel so bad for my car

how sevear is the crack? and where exactly is it?? pic perhaps? maybe you can just cure it with epoxy or something (that thing that comes in two tubes and you mix them together to form the adhesive substance).
i recommend and oil change immediatly... if you are sucking dust it will be caught by the engine oil and stays their... more like sand papering the internal parts of your engine
black coolant doesn't have to do with the crack in any way... the cooling system and the intake never cross lines in any part, just give it a nice cooling system flush and you will be OK (time for a new How to i guess).

[counseling session] Don't worry everything will be fine. If your engine is fine, then you are lucky since nothing major happend. Fixed it up and it'll be fine.
When I bought my car, it was missing an air filter!!! It had a stock pipe connected to the throttle body and the filter itself was missing. But everythings fine... I've had the car for a year and a half now... so no worries!! [/counseling session]

you are lucky for sure but dirty air is very bad... maybe you guys live in a "non dusty" areas but arround here we have more dust than air so something like that is a killer.

damage takes time... try to imagen you are trying to sand paper a peice of metal with a really smooth sand paper soaked with oil... this is the same case with you now.
don't run the engine till the untake is fixed and replace the oil and oil filter before yoiu run the engine.

man i need a pic... how the hell did the intake broke to the point that it can't be repaired??
did something fall in the engine bay or so like a rock or some shit?? it is very hard to break the intake as you explained... unless of course it had a manufacturing problem since the day it was installed in the car.
try to borrow a camera and post a pic... i am sure something could be done to it.

I dont know... but i pulled at some of the rubber on the throatle body and it snapped right off.. its not as stronge as i thought.. but i still takes ALOT of force to break which i havnt incountered.
The guy before me (15k mile ago) obviously worked the car VERY hard.. the clutch already needed to be replaced... tons of little things were broken and a tire was completly bald.. yet all the other three were almost new.
He was obviously probably a dumb teenager whos parents bought him the car and had no value for money
