According to the letter I received in the mail XM's rates are going up to $13 in April, but will include online music service and the Opie and Anthony channel. I had to go with XM to find a head unit with the features I wanted. However, I give the nod to Sirius for music. (I have Sirius with Dish Network). It's hard to explain, but I have a hard time finding good music to listen to on XM. As people say, the playlists are deeper on XM, but with music that I've never heard before (usually for good reason...). Sirius seems to offer the best of that category of genre, quality over quantity. [perhaps the music is simply more popular, and XM's selection is for purists of the genre, though I somehow doubt it].
I haven't listened to Sirius besides the music on Dish Network (though my Dad has a subscription to it). I'm guessing XM is great if you like rock and alt. rock, there are many channels of it. As far a electronic music goes (I like listening to this type of music) Sirius has a Smooth Electronica channel and XM doesn't, but XM has better Drum & Bass type electronica. Other than that, Sirius IMO trounces XM nearly everywhere else. Sirius has Top 40, XM is only 20, and they get old a lot faster... XM's rap and R&B selection is rather lame to me.
XM's comedy channel is awesome, so I spend a lot of time listening to that, along with the news channels, though I think it's because the music is lacking. With Sirius, there is usually something that I want to listen to.
Satellite radio (xm vs sirius)?
