Can anyone answer this question? it is very old. I don't think 1.75 inch is the in/out for the second cat on a Lanos 1.6. Anyone upgraded their cat converter?

I thought everything #1-5 was 1.75 inch and #6-9 was 2 inch? Doesn't the gasket after the main cat switch from 2 inch to 1.75 when leading outward?? Read this somewhere I think. If not then where is the 2 inch section(s) on the exhaust system? I want to put a magnaflow cat in place of the main cat. Would a Magnaflow 2 inch in/out be ok put on. I guess I could still put it on even if that section is 1.75 but I am just trying to see whether or not I will have to use adapters for it to fit?

Yes a 2in cat back should be fine. Any respectable exhaust shop should have any of the pipe you need and they can fit up anything you need done.

I am talking about the actual cat converter. Is the stock one 2 inch. The application finder on magnaflow
http://www.car-sound.com/catalog/applicationfinder.aspx
says that for a 99 lanos 1.6 a 2 inch cat will be direct fit. I know that everything AFTER the cat is 1.75 but is everything BEFORE 2.00? The pipe size does switch on the factory exhaust piping.

I know from the front pipe to the cat is 2", then after that is 1.75"
Not sure what the size of a direct replacement should be.

I ripped out everything and got bigger pipes.
