The 1/4 mile

I dont have my numbers but if I not wrong I make 17.2 at 93mph.

One of the problems with lanos is they are to heave for the type of car.

Some guy from work told me one lanos make 15.??? the lanos have a HONDA BISTEC engine.... I here from another but the car was ripe out, mos of the weights was taken out. but try....

Remember those numbers up there are from stock lanos.

that's what i hate about 1/4 mile drags... every body got different numbers and no one seems to be satisfied with them.

the way i see it is that it is very hard to get a standard 1/4 mile time for a car to be a bench mark for comparison simply because the time of a 1/4 involves the driver's reflex, take off and shift technique and those have nothing to do with mechanics but they do affect the result dramatically.

this will make a standard 1/4 mile time for a stock car virtually impossible so the variations you are getting are normal simply due to the inherent dirver factor in a 1/4 time.

i am not saying a 1/4 mile drag is useless but i am saying their is no accurate time for each car... instead it is more like comparing a particular car/driver package, that will be more accurate.

Motortrend say that the Scion Xa make 16.4..... but here (I was reading today in another forum), the car make 17.0. Remember motortrend drivers are profetionals so they will get "the best" time in any car. :twisted:

2.0 8v + Nos (50hp): 15.4

Let see how it goes with the 2.0 16v...

With the drag stirp though its more of car than driver (compared to other races especialy)... unless its your first time or you've done it a million times i wouldnt think there could be that much of a difference.

But then again with my gtech i got all kinds of different times untill like my 10th run i realized your not supposed to let the tires spin at all and all my times were consistent after that

exactly my point... unless you are a dragster your times will be different that other people.

driving technique will interven in the times untill you get to a ceartain level of experiance so that the diver factor is at its minimum... i'd rather compare cars according to HP and torque than 1/4 miles drags.

I like power to weight ratio.. but i never see it and i dont remember the equation for that. But you always have to look at the weight too

you are right again... my Woo makes up 86 HP and the Lancer makes 82 yet both cars have 12.5 sec for 0-100 Kms times simply because the Woo have more weight... it is power to weight is the most accurate way to measure a car's performance.
