HVE wing

Post by lanos2001 »

okay i'm not sure if all you know my dilema but my HVE wing has fallen off countless of times. i need to know what kind of hardware i would need to get it on once and for all. i know the type of spoiler for a civic is about the same thing. like the one on the link below.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... otohosting

but i'm not seeing how a couple of screws would hold it down. i would suspect you would need some kind of washer and nut at the other end but thats inside the wing. i'm probably not making any sense but one of my friends told me that there is a kit besides just urethaning it on. i just don't have 24 hours or longer to have it done that way. someone please help me with this situation. if anyone can find a kit or tell me what it consists of. because i've been looking forever for that kit but can't find it.

thanks,
nick

Isn't there a way to bolt it on then mold it to the body?

i know there is a way to bolt it on b/c they have kits for it for those civic hatchback wings. but i don't know what the kit consists of. and i can't find it anywhere. as for molding it on i can have it urethaned on the glass but that takes 24 hours to dry and thats in like 70 degrees. 30 where i'm at so probably add like two more days. i just don't have that much time to not have my car.
once again any more help would be appreciated

i would rent a car if i had the money. but with x-mas plus paying off the last of my bills from the apartment i just moved out of doesn't help at all.
i would rather just bolt it on so that its removable but if there is no other option then i will have it urethaned later on then.

you must not have had a lanos with a spoiler to start, i know that my lanos hatch has the holes in the window because it has the spoiler on it, take it to a glase pro and see if they can help you out

yeah my lanos was the base model with power nothing and only a cassette player in it. i was surprised to have power steering on it.
yeah i was thinkin about taking it to a place like that but since i live in oklahoma i'm pretty sure that they wouldn't know exactly how to mount it on the way its shaped unless i had some kind of kit. but i'll try calling around tomorrow to the few auto glass stores around here.

if someone can still tell me what a bolt on kit would consist of or where to get one i would be very happy.

thanks woohoo

Hey i was thinkin, i wanted tyo put a stock wing on mine I was told i need to order bolts and gromets, i imagine you could probably order the same ones from the car-parts.com or wherever i forget now, but they sell the factory spoiler, and a gromet kit, basically you dget someone to drill through the glass and the gromets fit in and attach the spoiler blah blah your done, I believe the whole kit of 4 gromets bolts and washers was under 10.00 see if itll work

well i knokw that they make a special bit to drill through glass. it looks like a regular one but has a special material at the tip[ to go straight through. i still planned on getting it done professonally though. as for the stock bolt kits one question. on the stock spoiler does it have like the male end of the screw connected to it and you just put the nut on it or is it the other way around. anyone get what i'm sayin?

okay i've finally gotten around to asking auto glass places about drilling holes and they all said since its tempered glass that its impossible. some of my friends have been telling me about something called gorilla glue and i was wondering if it would hold the weight of the wing?

if your talking about the woo with the wing like as tall as the car itself the HVE wing is not it. mine is small compared to that. mine is on this link.
