Aftermarket Timing belt?

Post by Fishbone »

Did a search but didn't find anything...anyone know if there's a GOOD (kevlar?) aftermarket timing belt available for the Nubira 2.0? No mine hasn't broken, but I'd like to swap in a good one before it does!

TIA!

Hmmm...what about the 2.0 in the new Optra? Isn't that the same engine as the Nubira's? Wonder if it has an upgraded timing belt that would also fit our cars?

as far as i know daewoo engine almost all run same belts.... all 2.0 16v engine have the same belt , same goes for the 1.6 16v series and 1.3(aka 1.4) 1.5 8v ones

dont think the belts got improved though as the replacement time is still on the same milage

Thanks for the info...well I guess with all these new Optra's being sold, if they start blowing these belts early, they'll have to redesign 'em just to save on warranty claims!

blow early? well they dont really the official milage went from 90.000km to 60.000km (sry dno miles) on all daewoo/opel/vauxhall engines (the 16V family) for older models there was a official notice of it once and the newer models state 60.000km in the manual now

timing belts

Post by matrix »

I was the one that posted 1.6L Lonos engine died. in a new topic.
But If what your saying is true this is not good...
I replaced my timing belt on my Lanos at 99K 3k above the manual
rounding off to lets say 100k and they did the change i should have changed again at 160k or 150k to be safe....I for one did not get notice.
sad to say i got a used 1.6L 16v with 23K on it.... got to keep the blown engine.... i took the old timing belt off it... to look at it it delaminated
you can see here at.

http://www.thinkingoutsidethebox.ca/lanos/

there are no seized parts.... the water pump ideler and cams all rotate ok.

It looks dry and in bad shape with only 57K on it rounding off again.
to me it looks like it was never replaced when i had it done :x looks in realy bad shape for 57K but if its in keeping with the new 60K change out i can understand why.( but never heard of it till now)

I am going to rebuild the other 1.6L 16v.
when i got the 23K engine it had all manifolds ect on it so its a good start for hopping up.

any other ideas im welcome to...

thank for your input on my post about the dead engine as well
