I guess I ordered the wrong header

Post by Brian5475E »

I bought a header for the tib 1.8 2.0, because shark racing has their header for that car and engine fitting the lanos. So I figure if it fits the lanos it will fit the aveo. Wrong not even close. so now I have a header I paid $165 for and can't use it. the ports are all wrong. the hyundai header has round ports and my aveo has oval ports, plus the header won't mount up, its too small. Anyone know a hyundai owner looking for a header?

I do believe I read it correctly. Thier header will fit these models
1996-2001 Tiburon 1.8/2.0
2003-2004 Tiburon 2.0
1996-2004 Elantra 1.8/2.0
1995-2004 Accent 1.3/1.5/1.6
1999-2003 Daewoo Lanos 1.5/1.6

Well I bought one for a 95-04 accent 1.5. Which is the header they said would fit a lanos 1.6, well no fit not even close.

I am begining to think that the Aveo and the Lanos are more different that we had first assumed.

Your Headers don't fit.
The ThrottleBody doesn't fit on the Intake Manifold.
Intake Manifold probablly has different mounts.
My ignition coil didn't fit.

I think someone needs to seriously research the Aveo and see just how much changed from the Lanos.

I guess Im confused. You chose the one for the accent when you should of selected the ones for the lanos.

the page probably looked like this...unless you got the 4-1.
http://www.sharkracing.com/acecart/bin/ ... =011003000

Why didn't you select the Lanos? Their parts fit perfectly, at least the ones I have purchased.

Shark is not wrong, you are. They never said it would fit an aveo, you assumed. See if you can send it back and at least get some credit

This is very interesting. Based on the information I have, the Lanos 1.6 16V and Aveo/Swift 1.6 16V do share the same cylinder head. As a result, Lanos exhaust manifold should fit the Aveo.... Perhaps the part received from Shark was wrong??

Brian: Would you mind posting the contour of Aveo's exhaust manifold gasket?

Lanos 1.6 owners: Can someone post exhaust manifold gasket drawing?

1999-2003 Daewoo Lanos 1.5/1.6 <== shark racing is SO WRONG

the 1.5 lanos and 1.6 header are no where near the same the 1.5 is still a opel header from a kadet e (if i recal correct) the lanos 1.6 header is totaly difrent... the 1.5 and 1.6 are NOT interswapebel

Also iv never seen a header thats made for a 1.5 and a 2.0 engine at teh same time?.... that means:

A.) poor calibration of tubes
B.)they dont know wtf they are talking about

Keep in mind that in Korea that they have a 16V 1.5L ( A15DMS ) as well as an 8V 1.5L (A15SMS).

We've allready tore apart an Aveo.... I'm sure everything was nearly identical.

I wonder if the USA/Canadian/European Aveo have differences in the engine bay.

I still don't understand how the coil pack is different.... I checked in the Aveo we disassembled and it looked identical to the Lanos.

Was it just the connector that was different??

Do you have a picture of the other connector??

I didn't buy the header from shark racing. bought it from another company. but I was going by what shark racing was listiing that the header for accent for that year would fit the lanos. I will try and draw what the manifold gasket looks like

***edit** Ok I drew what my manifold gasket looks like. its not the best but will do. its in the gallery under Kalos. I'm sure it's the same as the 1.6 lanos

Shark Racing 4-2-1 Header

You bought the wrong header, period. They used to have a drop down menu to select with make/model the header is for.
You shouldn't have assumed that the same header would fit all those applications.

Please re-word the title of this thread so that you don't give people the wrong impression.

Yes, the 1.5 16v is also avaliable outside of korea in the Cielo/Nexia.. if i remember correctly the 1.5 is the smallest engine capacity allowed in korea... there're even Nubiras with the 1.5 16v (already came in 1.6 16v).

Yes the nexia 1.5 16V is the top nexia engine we got in belgium even :s US has a more powerfull engine in it then? Never seen a nubi whit a 1.5 though.... but to be honest dont c how that car would drive well even a 1.6 is borderline for me
