How far is the turbo oil drain above the bottom of the oil pan after you used your cast adapter on the factory manifold ?
The only other person I know with this setup ( factory manifold with adapter to turbo ) ended up needing to make a small sump with pump to return the oil from the turbo drain.
That is to say the oil drain on the adapted turbo was below that of the oil level within the factory oil pan resulting in turbo failure.
Once the turbo was rebuilt with new seals, he drained the oil into a 0.5L aluminum container and returned it into the factory pan an inch above his turbo drain location via a small oil scavenge pump.

we don't have mot here (the yearly check only covers brakes and lights really) but the police can stop the car if they suspect illegal mods

Cool country .
Here in Belgium mods (aka "tuning") are stricktly limited And all vehicle over 4 years are yearly inspected: brakes/suspension/corrosion/pollution/lighting/horn/documents/wipers/and so on...
Green ticket (all ok) : 35€
Orange ticket : 35€ + 15 days to remedy to default(s) + mot again
Red ticket : 35 € + vehicle only allowed to go to garage and return after repair + mot again

I'll put a muffler after the rear axle if I can find a suitable one for free, else it will just be pipe. Retaining the catalist converter means it remains relatively legal, luckily no ongoing inspections in the state where I live.
I re-did the first part 2 more times before I was happy with it to get it tucked up a bit higher. Building an axhaust system on jackstands was certainly a challenge.
Over the back axle now to. All supported by the factory rubber mounts.
