X22se vs. 2.0 compatibility
Hello, new to the wootech and so far has been a goldmine of info. Anyway I'll just jump right into it, I'm trying to figure out what parts if any are compatible with my 2.2 DOHC in my 98 Isuzu Amigo vs. say a Z20let. From what I have gathered the 2.2 was just a stroked version of the 2.0. To be more specific I'm trying to figure out if the turbo exhaust manifold will bolt up to my motor. I understand the clearances may be different in the vehicles as most cars are transverse mount motors for fwd, while mine is standard for rwd. I don't want to go over the top with this just simple. But as I live in the u.s. finding parts for this truck is like pulling teeth. Any info is greatly appreciated, keep up the great site.

Hi Chris, good to have you.
the two engines are very similar. yes, for the most part, the 2.2 is just a stroked 2.0. there is a difference in the crank bearings, carank, rods and block. other than that they are the same engine. same head as well, just different cams from turbo to N/A.
as for the turbo system, yes, it is a 100% direct bolt on. feel free to find a good looking turbo and manifold combination and have fun.
I'm sure you know this but it bears repeating, stick with the Z20 motors and the earlier C20LET is very different.

Good to know thanks, now I just have to start getting the parts together. You don't know how good it is to see the words "bolt on" most projects i take on are a royal pain in the a**.

Re: X22se vs. 2.0 compatibility
I'm going to do my best to make it actually happen and not just blow hot air. But if I'm gathering everything right it looks like I may want to replace my head gasket with one out of the z20let before I even think about running any kind of boost through it. Gives me a good excuse to redo the exhaust to if I'll be replacing the header.

this sounds like it would be a really cool project. im interested to see what you finally come up with
