Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
Hello,
So I just completed second timing belt change at 123000 miles on Leganza, and finally changed my camshaft sensor. I paid like 90 bucks for it off of ebay and had mechanic change it along with timing belt, thermometer, and water pump. Car works fine, but gas consumption seems to have increased, and now I am getting error message that my ECM is no longer working correctly. Could the two be linked? Any feedback would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
Tom

Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
did you complete the sensor learn procedure after replacing the camshaft sensor?
also, is performance the same as before?

Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
actually I didnt...the one that's listed here has some steps, but then it says to follow a link to do the procedure, but that link is dead. I tried searching for it on web, but couldnt find it...Do you have the complete procedure?
Cheers!

Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
I've never seen this process. is it the same in all the Daewoos from the year range?
Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
thanks so much! Also do i have to take any fuses or the battery out before I do this procedure?
Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
it's in both the leganza and lanos manual i havegse_turbo wrote:I've never seen this process. is it the same in all the Daewoos from the year range?

it might be a good idea to reset the ecu by leaving the battery unplugged for 10mins just to make sure you are starting on a clean slate before you do the re-learn
Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
Some time ago I came across a technical service bulletin TSB-008-01 here on our forum saying that crankshaft & camshaft have to be electronically aligned when they are "disturbed". It's so called TEC Tooth Error Correction procedure. I don't know if this will fix your problem.
Hope it helps,

Thanks Dan,
it might just be that.
Appreciate it!

Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
The Scan 100 Scan Tool that needs to be used here for Tooth Error Correction, I am wondering can one use any Scan Tool? I would have to buy one, but they are expensive and I want to make sure I have the right one...

Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
I have two different consumer based scan tools and nether has any function like that. none of the others that I've looked at do either.you'd almost have to find out if any of the Snap-on scanners have the function but those are in the $1000's.
Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
wow..if I had known this before hand I would have left my cam sensor in..
Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
Just a quick updated, found out a there was a loose wire, I connected it and all those error messages went away.
Re: Engine ECM problem since I changed camshaft
wow, great, an easy fix that is cheap. Glad you found it and it wasn't a big deal.
