well i was just under the assumption it was a straight swap (the koni dampers have the same part # as the mk2)

come on man, you can't give me that tiny morsal and expect me to be satisfied, I need more!! apex bad? unable to get fitted? what's your first hand experience?! :D

i was looking at the spax but they seemed to be oil filled rather than gas

just remember also that budget is under 300GBP because i then need to tack on another 100GBP for postage

Well, I suppose with a kit like that where you have to insert the new dampers and put back on your original top hats etc it should be fine as far as the dampers go, providing the new spring cups/seats are already attached, which i imagine they should be.

the problem i had was that the mk2 springs' end coil was a different diameter and shape to the lanos spring seats, so they didnt fit in at all - well, not safely anyway.

and as for apex, well theres nothing wrong with it, good quality suspension from what ive heard. never personally used it yet or driven a car with apex suspension, but seems to do the job.

hmmm

maybe it would pay to get lanos springs and mk2 (cheaper) shocks ? maybe it wouldn't.

your car is -40mm with standard shocks right? I like that height. not too low, just a reduction in gap between the wheel and guard which is especially noticeable with the 14" wheels i currently have on the car.

yeah, still standard dampers. its raised up about 10 to 20 mm again since stripping interior and changing stuff for lighter parts etc

NEW RECORD for top speed achieved last night... only just...

121mph by speedo, so taking into account the 3mph error (as i previously tested with a gps speedometer) thats right round the 118mph mark in reality

Except this time it was on a level road (private, of course) rather than down a hill, so its a bit more "accurate" as such.

I know a lot of you are probly looking at this, thinking... whoop-dee-doo! 120 mph...so what? bare in mind, this is a 1.3 8v lanos! :D

... just thought i'd share that.

that's what I want to do!
except leave the plastic side trim and roof liner

have you got before and after weights (or accel. times for that matter)?

Leaving the plastic side bits and roof lines... so you only want to take out the rear seats? If you're gonna do it you might as well go the whole nine yards and strip the fucker bare to the bone.

A few things i cant get in the pictures is that ive taken all the spongey padding and sound-deadening out underneath the carpets and from behind the firewall and centre console. As well as removing small bits of plastic trim n such from the centre console that arent needed (ie: anything that dont serve a purpose, even if it may only weigh 1 or 2 grams lol)

as for before n after weights... no idea, i havent weighed anything, just stripping things off/out as i may.

same goes for acceleration times... no idea. faster than a standard 1.3 lanos lol. basically, its almost on par with a ford fiesta zetec-s 1.6 16v on all fronts, whether its off the line or top end... might have to get the stop watch out at some point lol

hey mate, do you think you could do me a massive favour?

would you be able to measure your ride height with the spax springs from the lowest (stock) point of your car (for example exhaust pipe)?

in australia we have a minimum ride height restriction of 110mm and i don't want to be ordering springs if it will make it lower than that...

i would really appreciate it.
cheers
