2000 Leganza Water/Coolant leak
My neighbor overheated her car, and I got on it yesterday to fix after getting all parts in the mail. She broke down a good distance from home, went over to see if it could be driven back, but water was spewing from a blown out freeze plug, so needed tow.
Reseated new plug, changed gaskets on exhaust manifold, got everything back together and thought I was HOME FREEE!!!! ....nope!
Trying to figure out what exactly it's coming out of, and what I need to replace. It's about a 1/2 inch hole, intake side, towards the water reservoir, and almost directly next to the reservoir hose inlet. Definitely not a freeze plug, and the hole isn't threaded. Worst part about it is that I can't directly see it, only feel it. Any ideas?

Going to have to take a pic tomorrow.
Looked over manual just now, looks almost like where the temp sensor is SUPPOSED to be. Hole didn't feel threaded though. Just going to have to take a second look.

Sorry, delayed on a count of an all day rain on Saturday, and totally booked yesterday.
Feels and looks as though it's on the head, between cylinders 3 and 4, and is actually about 3/4". One pic of the port, and one of my had reaching for it. Out of sight, but gives general idea of location.

Hmmm, work okay over here. Try the photobucket:

Re: 2000 Leganza Water/Coolant leak
seems like an engine block coolant plug... those are a pain in the ass to replace
the replacement itself is not an issue... getting enough space to work with them is the issue

Re: 2000 Leganza Water/Coolant leak
Thank you for your help by the way.
Is there a separate, smaller-sized plug that goes into this hole? It's not part of the block, definitely part of the head, and much higher up than the freeze plugs. Replaced a freeze plug on the exhaust (forward-most) side of the engine, and it's absolutely different.
For a size comparison, your index finger would just fit into the hole, about the same diameter. By the shape of the edge of the hole itself, and being smooth and not threaded, I don't doubt you. Just want to be sure!
Do you have the same car/engine, and could possibly take a picture of the same area?

BTW could you give us engine size and type. DOHC? SOHC?
Thanks,

Re: 2000 Leganza Water/Coolant leak
Sure thing, it's an X22SE 2.2 DOHC 16V
Re: 2000 Leganza Water/Coolant leak
well... i have a 1.5 SOHC and thats an entirely different engine than yours BUT i do have lots of pics for the 2.0 engine head (i suppose it is the same head you have) and you are bang on the smaller plug... their are two plugs on the intake side of the head

unfortunately i have no idea how to deal wit them plugs at all...sorry

Re: 2000 Leganza Water/Coolant leak
Alright, looks like I'm gonna have to tear the intake all apart and work my way in there!
Thank you very much again for your time and patience! I have an '87 Toyota Supra, thought parts were hard to come by for that....but this? Hahahah....
Thanks!

Re: 2000 Leganza Water/Coolant leak
Quick question about the plugs. Could you take a caliper to them and get me a measurement? I'm trying with the little space that I currently have to work, and getting about .7", 45/64", 18mm...what have you.
Re: 2000 Leganza Water/Coolant leak
Plugs needs a 16mm "deep" socket.
