CEL but no code ?
'01 Nubira 2.0 SE
I have a CEL... but no code !?
fluids are in order... car seems to be running fine.
Was hoping someone here new of some common issues that might throw the CEL without a code following ?
thanks ahead if U can offer any ideas.

Re: CEL but no code ?
how can the CEL turn on without a code?
actually the ECU triggers the CEL to inform you that it found something wrong with the sensors and have recorded it
try removing battery connectors to reset ECU for now...

Re: CEL but no code ?
I have disconnected the battery to reset, several attempts. no deal.
There is a delay before the CEL returns... sometime a couple hours... sometimes a couple days later even.
Maybe I'm not utilizing the right OBD reader ?
Only thing showed was a coupla' things that were old and warrantied a couple years after it's original purchase. And obviously never cleared !?
I didn't see anything else that might be current
? does the '01 Nubria require the newer OBD II reader or the earlier reader ?

Re: CEL but no code ?
can you get it to flash codes through the CEL by the paperclip method?
Re: CEL but no code ?
a 2001 would be an OBD II, right? perhaps you are using an older reader that won't display the code?

^ thought I had the OBDII... but it might have been junk.
I'll likely have to take it to someone and have them diagnose the issue.
which bothers me... but is... what it is.

It looks like you are in California so you shoul dbe able to take it to one of those major parts stores. They will read the code for you for free. All you have to do is ask them.

I'll have to look into that...
but thought I remembered reading somewhere that they were no longer rendering that service at AP stores out here.
be nice if they will tho'

I've done it here more times than I can remember!! One time it was the gas cap....i'm an idiot. Anyway, that's how they sell parts. they tell you what's wrong and what you need to fix it. it's a win/win. Ask around and you will find someone with a OBDII reader. Lots of people have them now. You can get one for 100 or so. I'm just too cheap. good luck
