Hi

I have a 2000 Lanos 1.4 8v that has just seized the water pump and stripped the cam belt. I have replaced the water pump and the cam belt and lined up the cam and crank marks top and bottom. The vehicle at first battled to start and then ran as if the timing was badly out. I then rechecked the timing marks ( All OK) It now just splutters and will not start. I have also disconnected the battery totally and operated the brake light to drain any power. I then reconnected the battery and turned the ignition on and off three times to reset the ECU. No difference. I was told that this is a non-interference motor (Opel) and no valves would be damaged by the broken cam belt.
Is this correct? Does any one maybe have any ideas that might help?

If that happened wouldnt' it create internal damage when it went? there are lots of topics in here on timing belt failure and the damage it causes. You may want to search those and look at what others had to fix.
