I used to have a 2001 Lanos 4 door which I had from 2002-2006. It was an awesome car, but then I bought a new Volvo and got rid of it.
Well, now a family member is giving me a 2001 black Lanos sport hatchback with 48k miles to use as my 2nd car. It's worth nothing as a trade in, but I know these are good cars! All routine maintenance has been done and the car is in perfect condition, but no major parts have been replaced aside from the drive belt I believe.
From owning a Daewoo previously, I know the timing belt is certainly past due to be replaced.
What other things do you recommend replacing at this time to make this car last for a very long time?

Also, I have some concerns about getting it repaired. When I owned my last Lanos, there was still an ex-Daewoo dealer that had a service department that still worked on Daewoo's, but the dealership is now out of business. Can most local mechanics work on these cars, and get parts for them?
Thanks for your help and I'm excited to back with a new Lanos!!
