How much does it cost *generally* to replace timing belt.

I have an 01 Lanos and I am worried about the timing belt, I have no idea when/if it has been changed yet and the car has 134,000 miles on it.

The belt is still working now, but I have heard many horror stories.

What is a fair price to be charged to have it replaced?

just get a few quotes and go for the cheapest

some will quote high just because they don't want to do it, it's in a pretty tight and labour intensive spot

when i got mine done, the quotes ranged from AU$300 to AU$1200

I got mine done for about $300 US a few years ago. he did a great job, from a small garage. I've done a few small things myself, but I'm not tackling that after seeing some of the problems with allingment and such after installation.
