96 nexia gl Intake--> Done!
Hey guys.
I've looked all over the internet to find some information about a 96 nexia gl air intake.
I haven't found a thing, not even here.
first of all, a picture, not mine, sorry.
there are two big black boxes connected to the hose into the engine.
the bottom one on the picture is the aircleaner, including a duct to the battery-bay for colder air
the top one, that is the question. what is this?
I have looked around on the internet and found that it MIGHT be a resonator box, only to silence the intake.
is this so? and if it is yes, can I just remove it?
the other question is:
some people surely have a daewoo nexia here, with an open air filter. how did you guys do this? because the airmass meter is in the airbox...
thank you!
ps: i'm new here, but i've pretty much searched this whole forum, without finding the answers.

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
Hi,
I don't own a Nexia but I found this documentation in Polish on Internet. The box behind the right strut mount is a resonator. Removing it could perhaps reduce the torque at certain engine speeds. Try it...
Hope it helps,

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
hmm.
i guess i'll just try it.
the other question still remains, how did other people solve the airmass meter problem when they fitted an open air filter

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
Well it's not a airmass sensor. Just a air temperature sensor. I would believe ppl having done the mod will come here to explain what they did. Did you tried a search with "cone filter" or "cold air intake"?
Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
yep,
tried searching 'air intake daewoo nexia (and cielo)', cold air intake, powerfilter, air cleaner, and so on...
found nothing useful...
but would changing the air cleaner for an open air cleaner mess up my fuel/air mixture?

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
IMHO the ECU using oxygen sensor's signal will try to hold the correct air/fuel ratio. If A/F is outside limits you should get a error code. Watch info from more experienced ppl.geoblade wrote:yep,

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
why do you want to go to an open filter anyway...
there are NO benefits except noise...
especially on a 1.5 no turbo
you would get better results just getting rid of the resonator box UNDERNEATH the airbox and put a pipe from the guard to the airbox like a cold air intake

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
so you are saying there are two resonator boxes in my woo?
Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
That's what it looks like in the pic.
One could be for noise the other could be to store a volume of air. Like it was said... For torque.
If you need the car and don't want to experiment, you have to ask yourself why you want to do the mod.
As i said before, the gains are so small, you really won't feel the difference...

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
hmm, might check it out.
i want it for the sound :P , i know gains are small, i probably won't even feel it.
my dream is to have a c20xe in there, but i just dont have the money for that.

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
if you want it for the sound,
just get rid of everything and put a filter on the throttle body with the intake air temp attached

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
best thing to do is remove any/all restrictions leading up to the air filter...
what i did in my lanos was take out the resonater box, any pipes leading to it and to the air filter box, then took the air filter box and chopped away the bottom half... kinda hard to explain, but its like a completely open air filter (like a cone filter) but it looks completely stock.

Cargo cultism is a beautiful thing as long as you never fall for it.
Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
i kind of understand what you mean rodd1s,
but how did you connect the filter to the upper half of the box? rubber bands? haha

Re: 96 nexia gl Intake
I kept enough of the bottom half of the air box in place so that the clips that hold the top on were still in place as well as the 3 mounting points so that the air filter is held tight in place in the engine bay.
Some very careful cutting was involved, making sure the rectangular frame that holds the filter and all mounting points were still in one piece.
...just kinda take it apart, and stare at it for a few minutes and think about what bits can be cut away - thats what i did.
