Check this out fellas! Daewoo's putting this little number on the market in Europe. It's the S3X. Nevermind the Chevrolet badging, it was designed, engineered and built in Korea by Daewoo. As per GM's new positioning for Daewoo, some markets will have them as Chevrolets. No specific word yet on the engines but a diesel will be offered. It shares its platform with the Chevrolet Equinox. Look for it in early 2006.

Hey dudes! Yeah, I've been off the boards for a while. Haven't left the fraternity though. I still have my 'Woo...not too happy with it right now as daily I regret ever putting torch to my exhaust. That said she's still with me for the time being. I was giving MAJOR thought to buying a 1.8L Chevy Optra (Suzuki Forenza/Daewoo Nubira etc). I spoke to the sales rep and everything, but in the end I just can't be tied down with that much debt right now. Gorgeous car though. The 1.6L is now available here as well. With 4-wheel discs too! But only has power windows in the front and comes with wheel-covers...as opposed to alloys on the 1.8 L.

I have lots of different engines ( 2.0L 8V Turbo, 2.0L 8V N/A, 2.0L 16V N/A(for GsiTurbo), 2.2L 16V N/A )

And I now have an Optra 5.... which will be modified with a turbo soon... so technically I have a U20SED (2.0L 16V N/A) in that car as well.

So in theory I have 5 daewoo engines right now.

The whole turbo 2.0L project died when I sold my Lanos to a friend.... it should be starting up soon but it will be two different cars.

My Optra 5 ( Lacetti ) will get a turbo running low boost just to give it a little extra power ( plus I'm the first test subject for a turbo kit )

My 2.2L is going to hopefully end up being a high horsepower drag racing engine.... I want to beat 625hp but I don't know if it is possible.... I'd be happy with 375hp but it sure would be cool to have the most powerfull Daewoo on the planet. :twisted:

I'm trying to pick up a dead Lanos or Nubira that has a shot engine (presently looking at one on ebay.... was in our classifieds section)

This car will be stripped down to the bare frame and then stiffened with a roll cage.

Then we will drop in the 2.2L (tranny unknown at this time ) and see how fast she goes with slicks.

I'd love to see sub 12 second times.... and who knows if I manage 625hp it might even drop into the 10s. ( I'm just guessing )

Hopefully the projects work out..... if not I have a few blocks to "learn" with and other C20GET (2.0L 8V turbo) blocks can be found all over town in various autowrecker yards.

Should be fun.... Tom.... GsiTurbo... is working with me so we should be able to get everything worked out in the long run.

He's going to have a couple projects of his own but I'm sure he will tell everyone once he gets things rolling. (as I said.... I have a 2.0L Nubira engine sitting in my shop waiting for modification )

if you ar going to go to the trouble of stripping and stiffening the chassis and putting in a cage and stuff for a drag car, you might as well make some mounts and mount the 2.2 north to south, bolt on a th400 (modify the bell housing) and fabricate a 4 link rear end

Naw dude...keep it front drive. That's more in keeping with the WOO-factor! :lol:

I could allways use an F28 and hook up power to both axles :D

I wonder if you could pull the rear end out of a Calibra and insert it into one of our Daewoo (Lemans,Optra,Nubira,Lanos) products over here.... hmmm.... that would certainly be very interesting..... 625hp AWD 6spd Daewoo drag racer.

I have another project as well but I don't know if I will ever get it started.

I want to fix up my 83 Chev truck.... take the engine out of the front.... drop it into the back box and put a hot tub in the front engine bay :D

Imagine the looks you'd get if you pulled over at the local performance car hangout

The engine could heat up the water via a heat exchanger.

I love this project but it could be impossible to complete..... the weight of that much water might be too much for the truck to handle.

Who knows.... It could happen one day.

I've never heard it being done before. I've been on several Vauxhall boards and this has always been a question that nobody has adressed. However...there is no substitute for cubic centimetres, they say, except for cubic money! With that in hand (EVERY pun intended) you can make anything happen. All that would be really needed is for the tunnel in which the exhaust runs in to be widened to allow the drive-shaft and the exhaust to fit side by side (or f**k it...run the pipes out the side!!) , and a relocation of the fuel tank, and you're good to go! Don't forget the rear-end from the Callie as well.
