So I was driving to Down Town Puyallup to meet my parents for dinner. I was running late and was kind of driving fast. On a road by my school, I was driving about 100 m/hr, in I think a 30 or 35 m/hr. After I came to the top of a hill I saw a Pierce County Sheriff coming the other way. He threw on his lights and started a U-turn. I slammed on the brakes and immediately turned onto a side street. After several turns I lost him. I know he didn't get my plates because I was going way too fast.

So, I'm going to buy a radar dectector with the money I would have lost to a ticket. I thinking of getting the Escort Passport 8500.

Good thing Pierce County is under staffed or I would of been screwed.

Thats happened to me alot. The worst was peeling out constanting in my school parking lot then leaving it and a cop got right behind me and followed me for like 10 mins through lots of turns

1) You are a friggin idiot for driving that fast in a 30 or 35 limit zone. They are that slow for a reason, usually children play near there. Just think if you had flattened a 7 year old and his dog who had been crossing the street.

2) Don't waste your money on any other radar detector. The ONLY one worth buying is a Valentine One. They are the very best, but cost around $400. Everything else is junk in comparison.

Actually I live in no-wheres ville where its 35 on straight aways out in the middle of nowhere. Trees on both sides. The only thing I would of hit was a deer. But The passport 8500 has had better reviews the others.

I have a Cobra and it works pretty well but not 100% of the time... its still saved me a couple times

There is a road near my house that is in the woods and has no posted speed limit signs anywhere. Last Thrusday @ 9am, I came over a hill just as a cop was going the other way. The lights came on and I stopped. She said I was doing 68 in a 45. Good thing I knew her family and had been to dinner at their house many times in the past. Her mom would have been mad at her if she had given me a ticket. LOL ... the bonouses of living in a VERY small town (population under 400 people).

There are many places near me that are 45 mph for miles and miles through the woods and it is absolutly unnecessary for it to be that slow. Until 4 years ago, there were no posted speed limit signs.

No im not that stupid to speed in a school zone. I could kill someone.
It's actually a mile from the school. but in a reality the i was leaving school at 5pm to go downtown. The school has a full time cop and speed cameras.
But yea I agree roads in the middle of nowhere should not have posted speed limits. It wasn't like there was anybody else on the road.

well i hope no one here gets a ticket. not only does driving a daewoo cost more on full coverager, since there are no parts really, but tickets just make it sky rocket.

but on the other hand i got white and red strobes in my head lights. i once crashed a senior party, after i already graduated and flipped them on. :twisted: never have i seen so many drunk people run for their lives in the middle of nowhere. it was funny b/c apparently when the white ones flash they leave like the blue haze after effect and it really looks like cop lights. every once in a while if i'm on a back road or one where i know there are no cops and there is a slow old person in front of me doing like 35 in 45 i turn off my lights and flip the switch. they pull over and i just gun it by them before they can get my plates.

police can track radar detectors, well they can in australia atleast. We have one in a car and it never is used because the fine is very large. Its cheaper to just drive normally and if you want to give your car a decent run, do it out in the country, not in the city where police are common

In my state radar detectors are legal, i know alot of states in the US they are illegal though.

Yeah, only if you get caught... LOL.

And as for the cops tracking radar detectors, I believe the newer models have some sort of cloaking device which makes it really hard to track.

Also, I have some sort of CD my friend gave me and it has a step by step tutorial on how to convert some Cobra Dectectors (don't remember model numbers) into radar jammers. If any of you are interested, PM me.

IDK if it is legal, I'm assuming if you "jam" anything a cop owns they will be fairly pissed.

Again, the story comes back to if you get caught, you may jam the cops radar, but there isn't any way for him to find out how you did it, even if he searches your car...he won't think to look in a detector that isn't marked as a jammer.

However, I know for a fact in Florida, Radar Detectors are legal and maybe...maybe jammers too. (I love this state, almost could get away with murder). But I don't know, if you drive in the city like I do, there aren't too many speed traps, and no cop in his right mind will stake out a 4 lane highway. I drive carefully and and it seems to work thus far.
