how do you remove drive shafts from tranny.

Post by johnoo »

Hi, am trying to remove the drive shafts from nubira 1.6 manual transmission, everythings off except the axles in the tranny
the manual states just to lever it off using a pry bar, should i only use the tool as in the manual, or can i use large screwdrivers.
do i need to remove the bolts on the tranny near these axles on the engine side, and the unusual lock key on the other as they are hard to pry off.
thanks, john.

Unless something has changed in the newer gearboxes.... it's just a matter of the use of force to pop them out.

My axle removal tool kit consists of a block of wood, a pry bar and a hammer :D
