What's going on everyone. Im Walter from Missouri. I have a 01 Nubira SE, 2.0.
We are having some heating issues. It does NOT heat up meaning the heater doesn't blow hot air. I replaced the thermostat. It did nothing. In my research I ran accross this forum. All I can say is wow. Nice forum, I like the fact that you guys customize your cars. Anyway getting off track here. I have searched on here and found were someone said to flush the heater core.
Alright did that. Then followed the bleeding the air out steps. So now the issue is: Out of the four vents on the dash, warm air only comes out of the drivers side vents. Some what warm air comes out of the vents on the passenger side. Now the warm air is not constant on the drivers side it will turn cold after 20 minutes or so. So what I have been doing is: Going under the hood and relieving the pressure one the cooling system by loosening the cap. That seems to let the system warm up for around 20 or so minutes then it goes back to cool air.
I am some what happy that I can get some hot air out of it now. Just not enough and it's too damn cold right now to have the wife and kids driving around like that. Hopefully you guys can understand what I wrote.
What's everyone think? Please help !
Thanks
Walter

Re: Having heat issues with the Nuub
this seems like an issue with the ventlation mechanism and air flow rather than an issue with the core itself... the core can be covered with dirt or tree leaves and the air is not fully warmed up
i remember the nubi got vacuum controlled A/C vent control so that can be an issue as well... are you able to switch the air source thought all dash vents? (upper only/ upper& lower / lower only / wins shield) if you can't then their is an issue with the vacuum control

Re: Having heat issues with the Nuub
It switches just fine and the speed are good too. Just not blowing warm air.
Now were would the leaves and dirt be built up on the heater core at? It's not under the hood. I will post up a pic of were two vac lines run into the firewall thru sometype of box later tonight when I get home. I was curious about it, and unbolted the cover. There were leaves and crap in there. Which I didn't understand how in the heck they got there. Anyway......
Thanks for the help and i will post up a pic later today/tonight.

Alright here is the pic that I was talking about above.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone.
Re: Having heat issues with the Nuub
oh yo got a nubira then you got an A/C filter... lanos owner doesn't have that sophisticated piece of equipment for some reason
i think you have to remove the plastic panel shown in the pic you posted and the filter will be behind it... if the filter is clogged then it will very much affect the air flow through your ventilation system

Re: Having heat issues with the Nuub
I will pull it off tonight and look harder. I pulled it off the other night thinking it would be some type of filter and there was nothing I could see there. I will pull it off and snap some pics to throw up tonight. Again im at work so it will be later tonight. Thanks

Re: Having heat issues with the Nuub
When your car is warm what is the temperature gauge saying?
Sounds odd that your system warms up when you pop the cap, have you checked the coolant hoses all around the engine to make sure that they are getting hot?
Ideally you should be able to touch the two lines going to your heater core.... if one is hot and the other is cold that most likely means there is some sort of blockage.
Has your water pump ever been replaced?
Usually it's done at the same time as the timing belt since it's super easy to do it at the same time ( water pump runs off timing belt )

Re: Having heat issues with the Nuub
Nothing has been done to the timing belt/water pump. YET ! !! I have recently learned (on here that is a good idea) I will be doing that soon. The heat is gettting better not 100% yet but we are making progress. I am pretty darn sure it is a blockage now. NOW whatever setting you have the controls on it blows out the top for the windshield and the dash vents.
Were getting there, I will keep everyone posted. My truck was acting a little nuts yesterday so I didn't get to tinker with the wifes Nubira last night.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Trust me its helped with my confidence in working on this car and trying to fix it and not junk it.
