This may be the end...
Well I stopped at Sheetz this morning to get gas and put air in my tires. Pulled over to the air pump got out of my car. Then this guy in a duelly pulling a trailer of lumber backs right into the passenger side of my Lanos. Pushed in the rear quarterpanel and crushed the door jam. I sent pics to my friend and he said the insurance is going to total it easily.
I have an appointment with an autobody place to get an estimate but I'm fearing it's going to be more than the value of the car.

Bummer man, sorry to hear that. Pretty bad damage? If they do total it out, see what the buy-back is on it...it may be worth it to keep for parts if you decide to buy another Lanos.

Yeah that's one option however I'm not seeing any Lanos Sports for sale on the market right now.WOLFMAN AK907 wrote:Bummer man, sorry to hear that. Pretty bad damage? If they do total it out, see what the buy-back is on it...it may be worth it to keep for parts if you decide to buy another Lanos.

Re: This may be the end...
The buy back on my lanos when it was totaled was under $300. So I bought it back and pulled the metal out as straight as I could tack welded in some places to make it closer to original and filled the rest with bondo. for $300 bucks there was no way I was gonna try to find another car...

Nice dude, glad to hear it. Yeah, if it's still mechanically sound and only cosmetically challenged 300 bucks is a steal. What did insurance give you, if you don't mind me asking.

Re: This may be the end...
Ok I 3 estimates done. two of them were just over $1600, the other was a low ball estimate.
I checked my states laws on totalling and if what I found is correct then the insurance company cannot total it unless the damage is estimated at over 80% of the car's NADA value. I checked my NADA value and it's right around $2700 with my mileage and options.
So assuming the insurance adjuster doesn't try to screw me over then it looks like it wont be totalled. They are coming out tomorrow to do an estimate. I'll keep you all posted.
