And my purpose is lowering EGT.

My pump is a custom modified Coolingmist.
Remove pressure regulating circuit and attached some tubing and spped controller for adjusting pumping pressure without pump motor stop. And it makes to adjust pumping pressure 0 to over 10kgf/cm2 freely.

And.... Solenoid valve is far better than check valve, of course...
8X6 nylon tubing will be best choice.
Because it is cheap and easy to buy, and easy to connect just with one touch fittings.
And if you use electronic pressure switch, you can adjust boost pressure to inject in cabin...

You can see some pics on my post.

Hmmm very nice..... somehow I missed your post on the build up of your car so this is the first time I've looked at this post.

A very important question ...

What to use for water/meth?
What ratio works best for running more lean, more timing and more boost?

I use plain washer fluid...... the most basic one you can find without extra additives like RainX, or detergents etc. Then in the summer I combine that 50/50 with distilled water, while in the winter I run the washer fluid pure.

I somewhat retract the comment about the solinoid requirement.

I tested the system and even at 4 bar it took about 15 seconds to drop the pressure to 1 BAR ( when the valve kicks in )

The issue being that I have 10 feet of 3/8" diameter hose pressured up and it acts like a reservoir.

Given my system is trunk mount I only have two options

1) move the pump to the engine bay close to the injection point
2) install a solenoid near to the injection point.

I was kind of surprised at how long it took to drop the pressure.... but at the same time that is about a half liter of water.

With two 0.5mm injectors it went through water like crazy even at 60psi..... so I believe I'm going to drop back to one 0.5mm injector.

I'm fabricating some mounting pieces and once that's done I will test the flow levels

Unfortunately I have the smaller diameter aquamist injectors ( since they were originally for an intercooler sprayer system ).... if anyone is going to buy aquamist make sure you get the 6mm instead of the 4mm

The other negative of the aqumist injectors is that they have an 8mm X 0.75mm thread.

I have a 5/16 -30 TPI tap that seems very close.... but the TPI is just ever so slightly different and the injectors won't screw in.

So..... I also retract my liking the aquamist injectors.... if you have access to metric then it's no problem... but I'm sure that most USA guys would find it nearly impossible to find a fine metric 8mm tap ( since regular is 8mm X1.25 )

Pump is awesome.... pushed well over 140psi into the one injector....very quiet as well.

so every washer fluid has methanol ? even the cheapest?
i ask because most of them doesn't say anything about ingredients

I'm 90% sure i wont do the DIY and buy the CoolingMist Kit

its really not that hard to get metric here in the states. any nut and bolt supply should be have metric taps and dies. i was wondering where you got the meth from, thats cool that its so easy to get. @exist3nce how long does a "fill up" last and how much is a it to full up

Ideally you want to look for the MSDS for each product to determine the Methanol content.

Here is a great example because this company has multiple types.

The one rated for +32 deg F has less than 1% methanol
The one rated for +22 deg F has less than 8% methanol
The one rated for -22 deg F has 31% methanol
The one rated for -25 deg F has 34% methanol

Here is a different manufacturer that has a rating of 0 deg F and uses 30% Isopropyl Alchhol instead of methanol

Found a very nice article from a company that sells injection systems.....

http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/ ... _info.html

Prices are not bad..... I like the fact that they have the push-lok style fittings in nickel plated brass.... which is hard to find... most are plastic.

Hmmm.... this has one of the highest methanol contents I have been able to find....

http://www.safety-kleen.com/msds/82513rev7-11-06.pdf

Safety-Kleen has 40-49% Methyl alchohol ( Methyl Alchohol is Methanol )

Problem is that this "90P" windsheild washer fluid doesn't seem to be on their site and they have a new ice breaker fluid with a lower Methanol content.

Needless to say.... it might not be available but it shows that there is 40-49% Methanol content windsheild washer fluid being made.

Here is one I can get up here in Canada.... http://www.nemco.ca/msds/MS_WWAF35.pdf

They also quote Methanol as "Methyl hydrate" which is well known as gas line antifreeze.

They sell bottles of Methanol with a 95-100% content.

Now.... if I search for Methyl Hydrate which can be used as a "cleaner or thinner" for Shelac I get things like this.....

http://www.rona.ca/shop/~methyl-hydrate ... paint_shop

So that means you can buy methanol from your local paint stores and mix it with water .

4L cost $8.22 CDN..... so at a mix of 50/50 that is about $4.11 per Gallon ( 4 liters ).... so not much different than premium fuel up here in Canada.

I also noticed a link talking about a guy who found methyl hydrate in a local dollar store under the name "fondue fuel"

It's used in lanterns, stoves and all kinds of things..... so..... although windshield wiper fluid is cheap.... it doesn't allways have the best mixture of water to methanol and many have additives for cleaning and for stoping the fluid from creating foam..... plus there is the color that they add.

So.... to me it's just about as cheap to buy methyl hydrate and mix it 50/50 with water to ensure my mixture is perfect and that there are zero additives.

Very good info
Cheaper than the Cooling Mist Kit (for $10)
Search for it on eBay

I'm not sure how to take your comment... are you   because you didn't know that the majority of the WI users on the planet simply use window washer fluid.... which is simply water + methanol.... or do you have some usefull information to add to this post?

Me personally.... I will be mixing de-ionized water with pure methanol for my system.... which will be 100% clear.... where as window washer fluid is tinted with a very small amount of dye to make it more visible and distinguish it from pure water ( which is obviously a major concern in a climate where it freezes during the winter )

Hi guys
I didn't forget about this

Here is the kit i bought
Image

And here is the mix i'll be running
Image

That makes a 49/51 mix of water/meth

I'm hoping the injector isn't too big (500cc/min)
Will be installing it tomorrow, will let you know how it turned out

Run#1 is without the water/meth
Run#7 is with water/meth and tuned

I'm very happy with the results
