Change AC Belt

Post by daewooluvr »

Hey guys,
My AC belt snapped off a while ago. I was going to replace it yesterday and found that the new belt was about 1in too short. I was going to adjust the tensioner and found the bolt head was stripped. How has anyone else dealt with adjusting the AC tensioner?

the bolt is prolly your best bet. dont you have an extra tensioner for sale? just replace your broke one with that one.

yeah I have like three of them in storage. It's a PITA to have to remove the entire bracket.

annoyed that they used such a low grade bolt for something that would no doubtably get so rusted.

well my belt was squeaking so i tight it up but the bolt head twisted and broke, so i took it off put it on vise and got adjustable pliers and try to move it back and forth... dint work for me cause inside it was all rusted so...

i sprayed shit load of wd40 and got a bbq burner and i pointed toward the part were it is stuck,i let it warm up for like 30 sec, and tried moving it, and it worked (thx to my dad for telling me the idea lol)

+

i had to get new bolt from junkyard (yea im that cheap so what?!)
